Valinor Builders /
Remote
There are too many problems that are unaddressed in the resiliency ecosystem. These problems, while quiet, are significant; and left unsolved they create gaps that widen until systems crack and missions stall.

Valinor is a new type of defense and government tech company focused on solving the problems others don’t. Our unique model of centralized go-to-market and decentralized engineering allows us to move with unparalleled efficiency to identify unmet needs, build right-sized solutions, and get products where they matter most - in the hands of users. Unlike others in the space, who focus on the flashy problems, Valinor exists to solve the quiet, unaddressed problems–the small but significant ones that lead to cracks in the country’s strength, stability, and security.

Backed by General Catalyst, Founders Fund, and Red Cell Partners, Valinor was founded in 2024 and has established strategic partnerships with Palantir, Anduril, and Helsing. We are building the dream team, and we want you on it.

We're seeking Builders who want to develop products for government and defense missions. If you are a highly technical software or hardware engineer motivated to build for these missions, we want to hear from you. This is the core to who we are at Valinor: we are a Haven for Builders.

What you will do

    • Focus on building: Come to Valinor and focus on building a product for defense, national security, and/or civilian government missions. No specific product idea necessary.
    • Go through a process of product and mission discovery: Collaborate closely with Valinor Hub to find a first product and customer that matches your technical obsessions. Pick the product you want to build.
    • Own the engineering: You’ll be the lead engineer and solution architect crafting the vision and feature roadmap for the product. You’ll also lead the engineering team and own the execution plan. This is not an independent contributor role.
    • Partner with Valinor Hub on Growth & Operations: Valinor Hub will run the growth and operations for the product line you build. You can focus on doing what you love: building!
    • Run the product subsidiary: Upon finding that first product, you’ll move into a product subsidiary, where you’ll be the General Manager, running the decentralized engineering team while Valinor Hub continues to drive the growth. You’ll get real upside in the product you build, without dilution. Imagine if you were incentivized directly in the product line you were building?
    • Help develop the unique culture and brand at the product subsidiary: Each product company will have its own feel. Working with the Valinor Hub, you will be driving the name, vibe, and culture of the product line.

Who are we looking for

    • Experience: 5+ years of engineering experience. You've built and successfully deployed products.
    • Obsessed: You have some technical obsession that keeps you up at night. You should be opinionated and eager to wake up every morning and build. You do not need a specific product idea, but just an area you want to build in.
    • Builder ethos and tinkerer-mindset: You buy spare parts online to build things in your garage. You write code at 3am. You are hands-on and curious about problem solving.
    • Passion for the mission: While you do not need government or defense experience, you'll need to be passionate about the end customers we are working for and driven by the desire to make the world a better place.
