The Role

Veeva’s Legal Team is looking for a dynamic, business-minded lawyer who excels in a fast-paced global work environment. This role is for a Legal advisor supporting Veeva’s fast-growing and innovative data business, specifically for Veeva Link, Veeva OpenData, and Veeva’s Business Consulting practice (which involves the delivery of data analytics).  The role will focus primarily on the EU business. You will work collaboratively with the executive, strategy, and product teams to ensure the Veeva Link, OpenData, and the Business Consulting projects meet regulatory requirements and customer expectations. This position will be based in Europe and will support a management and product team that is primarily based in Frankfurt, Germany. Relatively frequent travel to Frankfurt will be required. 

What You’ll Do

    • Maintaining global compliance program for Veeva Link, OpenData products and other Veeva data products that may be developed
    • Act as liaison to customers re legal compliance of the Veeva Link, OpenData products and other Veeva data products that may be developed
    • Advise the Veeva Link and OpenData executive, product and strategy teams in the EU
    • Recommend improvements and innovations to the policies and processes relevant to the business
    • Research applicable laws, regulations and best practices (including oversight of local counsel outside of the EU) and work closely with the Veeva data privacy team on any applicable privacy laws
    • Develop and maintain templates applicable to the business by overseeing of Commercial drafting for core Order Form and SOW templates and any required Master agreement changes to ensure global consistency
    • Oversight legal advice for new data products
    • Support Business Consulting contracting in local markets
    • Act as a subject matter expert to the broader legal team on data issues and on customer commercial negotiation calls where needed
    • Advise and negotiate key vendor and partner relationships for the Veeva Link and OpenData businesses

Requirements

    • Law degree and active law license
    • 4+ years of relevant legal and business experience
    • Strong background working with suppliers of commercially licensed data products either in-house or at a law firm, including structuring contracts and reviewing terms of data suppliers and structuring contracts with data licensees
    • Solid understanding of key global data privacy regimes and copyright laws as relevant to the collection, processing, and maintenance of data collections from various data sources, including internet sources, to be compiled and sold/licensed
    • Experience supervising and directing local counsel globally
    • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced business to meet critical deadlines
    • Able to engage in informed dialogs with subject matter experts within our customer base and with regulators
    • Full English professional proficiency
