Position Summary:

The Senior Manager, IFRS Reporting, is responsible for leading the technical accounting and reporting functions for VEON Group. This role involves preparing IFRS-compliant financial statements and position papers on complex transactions, advising key stakeholders—including the Group CFO, Financial Control, and Audit and Risk Committee—and coordinating across multiple departments (Legal, Investor Relations, Treasury, and more). The position ensures accuracy and compliance in VEON Group’s quarterly and annual financial statements, in line with IFRS, SEC requirements. This role also involves supporting VEON’s Operating Companies on IFRS matters, overseeing statutory filings, maintaining accounting controls, and providing IFRS guidance on strategic projects and Treasury accounting matters. Additionally, the Senior Manager monitors changes in IFRS standards, updates the VEON Accounting Manual, and conducts annual and quarterly impairment assessments to support VEON’s financial integrity and strategic goals.

Key Responsibilities: 

·       Responsible for IFRS technical accounting assessments for VEON Group transactions including the preparation of quality supporting position papers at the VEON Group level as well as presentations to key stakeholders (Group Chief Financial Officer, Group Director Financial Control, Audit and Risk Committee (ARC))
·       Preparation and review of Group quarterly and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS as well as SEC reporting and disclosure requirements including the coordination with key stakeholders with the VEON Group (Legal, Investor Relations, HR, Treasury, Tax)
·       Preparation and review of key Group statutory annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS
·       Review and execution of quarterly financial reporting controls and procedures in support of the preparation and review of the Group quarterly and annual financial statements
·       Act as a strategic business partner for ongoing strategic projects for the VEON Group
·       Provide IFRS accounting advice on complex accounting areas with other HQ Functions (M&A, Legal, Tax, Treasury, HR)
·       Review and coordination of Treasury accounting related matters such as review of the incremental borrowing rate (IBR) and the fair value of Group Debt
·       Supporting and monitoring Operating Companies (OpCos) in application and compliance with IFRS on non-routine transactions ensuring proper IFRS accounting treatment
·       Monitoring changes in IFRS accounting pronouncements, assessing the impact on the VEON Group and updating the annual VEON Accounting Manual
·       Assist with the annual impairment testing (including valuation review) and quarterly impairment triggering assessment including the review of the Weighted Average Cost of Capital (WACC)

Critical Skills
·       Extensive IFRS technical accounting expertise (knowledge and application)
·       Accounting certification is required (ACCA, CPA, RA)
·       Minimum 6 years of previous work experience in similar role (technical accounting department of a public company) or within a Big 4 firm
·       Experience in researching and concluding on technical and complex accounting matters and transactions including the preparation of well-researched and well-supported quality IFRS position papers
·       Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, multitask various priorities, and work under pressure with strict deadlines
·       Strong project management and relationship building skills
·       Analytical and conceptual thinker
·       Proactive and self-starter, ability to work independently
·       Collaborative team member
·       Experience with working on multicultural environments
·       Strong presentation and communication skills, both verbally and written in English
·       Ability to prepare clear and concise materials and presentations for key stakeholders for executives and board members on complex accounting matters
