As part of this team, we are looking for a Chief of Staff to join our COO- Connectivity team in London. The successful candidate will join a small team with the unique opportunity to help define and execute Veon Connectivity strategy for essential communications and digital services growth in the world. VEON provides essential communications and digital services to 220 million customers in 10 countries which together have growing economies, populations and disposable incomes. Key Responsibilities


    • 1.  Participate in development, review, and approvals of OpCos’ business and commercial strategies, business plans, budgets, commercial and operational plans:
    • Contribute to OpCos’ commercial and business strategies, constructively challenge business plans, budgets, commercial and operational plans; provide guidance and inputs to OpCos’ teams
    • Analyze OpCos’ challenges, commercial and business performance, facilitate executive decision making on strategic and operational matters, prepare recommendations for COO and Group management.

    • 2. Develop, implement and maintain OpCo’ governance framework under COO Office:
    • Design detailed governance framework for OpCos’ performance management and interactions with COO Office on strategic and operational matters
    • Set up and maintain COO Office working processes, cadence of the meetings, target-setting, scope of initiatives, toolkit for performance measurement, planning of work
    • Ensure that key strategic and operational decisions with respect to OpCos are followed with appropriate procedures in line with OpCos’ governance framework 
    • Secure effective risk management across the Group and make sure that thorough processes are followed in the course of day-to-day operations and projects implementation (in line with Corporate Governance Framework) - required signoffs, approvals, alignments etc. 

    • 3. Design, implement, and maintain system of KPIs and “early warning” indicators to track OpCos performance and progress in meeting agreed commercial, operational and financial objectives:
    • Design framework to implement strategy into operations and translate strategic vision into actionable plans
    • Develop approach to reporting, KPIs and early warning indicators to track OpCos’ performance and progress in strategy implementation  
    • Implement and maintain solutions and tools providing visibility on OpCos commercial, operational and financial performance
    • Oversee OpCos management teams’ performance in meeting agreed goals and objectives

    • 4. Discover and explore opportunities for Group’s Connectivity business growth, OpCos’ commercial, operational and financial performance improvement, engage in problem solving:
    • Lead cross-functional HQ teams to deep-dive in problematic OpCos
    • Identify opportunities for Group’s Connectivity business growth and sustainable cost reduction
    • Lead execution of change management/ transformational programs and operational turnarounds aimed at improvement of top- and bottom-line performance 
    • Drive improvements of OpCos’ commercial, operational and financial results
    • Participate in valuation of strategic M&A options, infrastructure monetization opportunities, coordinate execution of strategic partnerships and deals

    • Near-native English, additional languages from VEON footprint are essential

    • Education and experience:
    • Graduate degree in Management, Finance, Business Administration, Technology, Economics
    • 10+ years experience in Telecom or adjacent industries, incl. management consulting, technology, etc.
    • Significant experience in general management, senior commercial and marketing roles, operations, performance management, transformation, strategy and M&A
    • Proven successful track record in leading diverse multi-cultural teams, developing and implementing commercial and business strategies, delivering market share growth and improving financial and operational performance
