About this role :


    • We have an exciting opportunity for a Compliance - Regulatory Officer to join our Legal team.

      As such, you will assist the Head of Legal in providing very extensive and wide support to Verkor on Compliance and Regulatory matters.
       
      We are looking for someone to develop and standardize compliance topics (including anti-bribery policy, fraud risk, supporting the ESG team, QMS, etc.) in the context of the automotive and energy industries. You will be a key person in the implementation of regulatory compliance tools, processes, and trainings in our organization.
       
      By joining Verkor, you will play a key role in the transformation to a carbon-free economy by accelerating the switch to electric mobility.
       
      This role is bases at the future gigafactory located in Bourbourg, on the outskirts of Dunkirk (North of France). Travels to our Verkor Innovation Center in Grenoble are to be expected.

Responsibilities :

    • Provide expert compliance advice, guidance, and support in implementing and enforcing Verkor’s broad Compliance, Sustainability, and ESG commitments.
    • Plan compliance roadmaps according to regulatory requirements and Verkor strategy and governance.
    • Provide advice to the organization on Environmental, Battery, Product Regulatory, and General Compliance issues. Advise on all matters pertaining to Battery and Environmental Regulations, as well as Compliance, including, specifically, in the context of supplier selection and due diligence.
    • Advise the organization on the implementation of the U.N. Principles on Human Rights, OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains, OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Business Conduct, EU Battery Regulation, and Critical Raw Materials Act, including, specifically, in the context of conducting supply chain due diligence.
    • Monitor Compliance, Environmental and Battery regulatory laws and regulations and educate colleagues on the developments in the fast-changing regulatory landscape.
    • In close cooperation with the Sustainability team, cooperate in the execution of the Sustainability agenda.
    • Work with internal stakeholders on a broad scope of compliance issues, including Health Safety and Environment, Human Resources, and Diversity Equity and Inclusion.
    • For any of the compliance sectors listed above: provide legal advice, conduct supply chain audits, implement compliance tools and adequate risk management procedures, draft internal and external policies, conduct internal trainings, and generally advise the organization on related matters.

Qualifications and skills :

    • Master’s degree in Law, ideally from a reputable top-notch university
    • At least 4+ years of experience, with preferably experience in General and Regulatory Compliance. Knowledge of the automotive and/or energy industries is a strong plus.
    • First-rate knowledge of Environmental, Battery, Product Regulatory, and/or Compliance laws and regulations in the EU.
    • Familiarity with comparable laws and regulations in other parts of the world would have a strong preference.
    • Top-level analytical, counseling, negotiating, communication, and interpersonal skills with sound legal and ethical judgment
    • Ability to identify legal and compliance risks, define mitigating actions, plan and execute actions.
    • Ability to manage assigned tasks in an assertive, efficient, and timely manner.
    • Adaptable and able to work in a busy and demanding environment

Extra skills that would be strong assets :

    • As we will develop an Industry 4.0 plant, an experience working in a startup environment or in digitization/data and management/IP fields
    • Knowledge of another European language would be a strong asset
    • Dual qualification in civil and common law jurisdictions
    • Knowledge / exposure to energy (battery)-related European regulation, recycling, local content, and sustainability considerations
    • Experience with complex shareholder agreements, SPV structures, and offtake agreement negotiations.
