We have an exciting opportunity as a Cell Assembly Junior Engineer in our Process Assembly Team. In this role, you will be responsible for the Assembly processes, including Notching/Baking/Stacking and winding/X-ray/Welding and Packaging. After a trial period, you will take responsibility for one of the assembly processes.

The role will evolve from planning the Gigafactory line, to setting it up.

This role is based in our gigafactory located near Dunkerque (north of France), but you will be based first in our Verkor Innovation Center in Grenoble for 6 to 7 months before moving permanently to Dunkerque.

Responsibilities :

    • Commissioning the equipment related to the gigafactory assembly process from FAT to SOP
    • Collaborating with the product engineering team to optimize the assembly processes (Notching/Baking/Stacking and winding/X-ray/Welding and Packaging) for the cell design. 
    • Improving assembly process (Notching/Baking/Stacking and winding/X-ray/Welding and Packaging) by increasing the level of process automation, which will save capital and operating costs.
    •  Testing and validating state-of-the-art technologies for use in the assembly process.
    • During the operation, you will complete root cause investigations into defects in the assembly process

Requirements - Qualifications and skills

    • Master's degree or Engineering Diploma, preferably in Industrial/Mechanical/Electrical/Materials or similar discipline
    •  Minimum of 2 years of experience working with battery manufacturing processes.
    • Strong statistical and data analysis skills with tools such as Python, Matlab, and Minitab
    • Lateral and innovative ways of thinking
