THE ROLE

At VerticalScope, we are reimagining the future of online forums and are looking for a passionate and creative consumer Product Marketing Manager to join our team as our founding PMM.  You will lead go-to-market efforts for new and existing products for our forums – such as AVS Forum, watchuseek, Mothering.com, and over 1,000 more – including our new native mobile app. In this highly visible role, you will help build and expand our go-to-market activities through a deep understanding of consumer needs and industry trends, and craft messaging that resonates with our visitor, member, and creator audiences. If you love the wide-ranging, creative, and strategic nature of Product Marketing — connecting with Product Managers, Engineers, and Community Managers; influencing product direction; and developing messaging and content that resonates with enthusiasts — then you’ll love this role. You’ll be responsible for segmenting and prioritizing our target audiences, developing our positioning and messaging, and leading cross-team marketing efforts to successfully drive adoption of our products from new and existing users. WHAT YOU'LL DO

    • Own product marketing launches from start to finish
    • Drive go-to-market strategy for our new and existing products
    • Develop positioning and messaging that effectively communicates value and differentiation
    • Execute integrated marketing campaigns that drive demand for our products
    • Lead the development of marketing collateral and assets
    • Partner with Product Management, Design, and Engineering to craft the value proposition and shape the product roadmap, using consumer and market insights
    • Acquire deep consumer knowledge through market research, user interviews, and segmentation analysis
    • Analyze the competitive market to size opportunities and inform our distribution strategy
    • Other related responsibilities and ad hoc projects as negotiated and needed to meet the ongoing needs of the company

ABOUT YOU

    • 4+ years experience in a Product Marketing role at a successful consumer internet company
    • Experience launching and marketing multiple online consumer products
    • Experience developing actionable consumer insights
    • Experience sizing market opportunities and identifying our opportunity to serve more users
    • A demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with Product Management, Design, and Engineering
    • Strong project management skills and ability to multitask
    • A passion for our mission of connecting enthusiasts around their passions
    • Deep empathy for consumers and an ability to adapt how you communicate to effectively reach and engage with our audiences
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as an innate ability to listen
    • Technical curiosity – you are passionate about learning new technologies
    • Team-first mentality – Product Marketing works with nearly every discipline at VerticalScope; you thrive in collaborative environments
    • Bias towards action and getting things done

YOU'RE A GREAT FIT IF YOU ALSO HAVE

    • Experience marketing to online consumers
    • Experience marketing to or for forums or other online communities
    • Relevant experience in online enthusiast communities
    • Experience working with app store optimization and developing app growth strategies
    • Experience marketing a wide variety of products
    • Experience working at a company during a growth inflection point
    • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or a related field, or an MBA
