Interviewing for a new company is a serious time commitment for all parties involved. Please take the time to read this and thoughtfully consider if we would be a good fit for one another.  No contractors or agencies. Seriously.

What You’ll Be Working On

With dozens of projects a year and team members spread across 16 different states and 6 countries, there is an enormous amount of work done behind the scenes to ensure the company operates smoothly and efficiently. Designing and maintaining effective, accurate financial controls and systems is a foundational component that has an enormous impact to the overall success of Very.

- Invoicing customers for services and collection of AR

A strong candidate will have:

- Experience in running the accounting function at a similar or larger sized project based services business.
- Process oriented, ensuring the way we operate is scalable
- Experience and interest in corporate and project financial analysis
- Strong Excel skills
- Experience with Xero accounting software, Harvest for time tracking, and TriNet for HR reporting

Why Work at Very?

The health, happiness and long-term career growth of our team is a top priority. What does that mean in practice? We give stipends for gym memberships, internet, telephone and/or co-working spaces.  We offer up to 21 weeks of maternity leave, 12 weeks of paternity leave, and 12 weeks for adoption or surrogacy. We have a $1,000 office stipend which allows you to make your battlestation somewhere you’re excited to work. We match $1 to every $3 of your 401k contributions and reserve a significant portion of the companys’ ownership for a team member options pool. Each employee gets a professional development stipend to use on conference registration, continuing education, professional memberships, etc... We're a remote-first company, so you can work where you want (in a hammock on the beach, anyone?).

But a healthy company culture isn't just about perks. It's about creating an environment where our employees can lead fulfilling lives, both at work and at home. Working overtime for extended periods indicates a fundamental failure in planning or communication. If this happens at Very, it’s a sign that something needs to be reevaluated and corrected. If you’re looking around wondering why people aren’t in “crunch mode,” the answer’s pretty simple. The thing we work hardest at is hiring good people, so we want them to stick around and have a good balance between work and the rest of the important stuff in life.

How You’ll Be Compensated

We believe in a transparent, fair compensation structure and have developed our own open salary formula. Depending on your skill and experience, you can expect your base compensation to be somewhere between $65,000 and $85,000 upon joining the company. Because we also offer performance bonuses, a generous maternity/paternity leave policy, 401K matching, and numerous other employee benefits (including eliminating the stress and cost of commuting each day), this salary package ends up being on par, if not better than most other companies.

We Fully Embrace Working Remotely

We consider ourselves best-practitioners of the remote-first movement and believe a great team shouldn’t be restricted by geography as long as applicants are willing to standardize their work day around a standard US timezone.

How We Operate

We are believers in transparency and openness. In terms of organizational structure and governance, we are a holacracy. It’s worked pretty well for us the last few years. We believe in hiring capable, responsible professionals. We don’t micromanage and trust everyone to work hard, experiment, learn from their mistakes, and contribute to each other and the company in a sustainable manner. We have no venture funding or external investors, which affords us the ability to be nimble and run our company in the best interest of our team as a whole.
