We are seeking a VP of Data Science to join our team of talented Data professionals. This role reports
into the Head of Data and will lead the data science team at Vevo, overseeing and driving forward all machine learning, AI, and stats applications across the organization.  This is a unique opportunity to shape the future of data science at a music and media company.

The ideal candidate will be an effective results-driven leader who is well-versed on the applications of data science to advertising and media, has hands-on experience with data science, is happy to get into the weeds when necessary, and has experience leading data science teams and developing strategy, vision, and roadmaps.

This job is remote with monthly travel, mostly to NYC, required.

As a leader on our team, you will:

    • Lead the data science team at Vevo, which applies machine learning, AI, and statistics to business challenges across the organization
    • Develop the strategy, vision, and roadmap for data science, while deeply understanding our business and its needs
    • Drive projects to the finish line by effectively prioritizing tasks and building necessary partnerships with other stakeholders
    • Ensure the excellence of technical data science deliverables
    • Regularly summarize the results and implications of data science work to the senior leadership team and the wider company
    • Collaborate with leaders across ad sales, operations, pricing, content, programming, business development, and finance to scope and deliver projects
    • Work with the Head of Data to create the right measurement partnerships to advance Vevo’s solutions for advertisers, incorporating a data science lens on what is high quality and integrable with existing in-house solutions
    • Stay abreast of advances in machine learning and AI
    • Coach and grow a team of data scientists

This describes you:

    • An executive with a proven track record completing major data science projects within advertising or media
    • Hands-on experience with machine learning in Python and can get into the weeds of challenges as needed
    • Can communicate articulately to non-technical audience about the use of data science in the advertising and media industry
    • Ability to work collaboratively with teams across the company
    • Experience leading teams and managing managers
    • Knowledge of data infrastructure, machine learning algorithms, and general data science toolkit

Requirements:

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of executive leadership experience overseeing data science teams. Strong understanding of predictive modeling, statistics, automation, and the applications of data science to business stakeholders.
    • Hands-on experience with predictive modeling. Experience with statistical tools and machine learning models, such as (un)supervised learning, NLP, forecasting, generative AI, LLMs, t tests, and experimental frameworks.
    • High competency with Python, SQL, and the use of cloud databases (like Redshift).
    • An understanding of how to work with common engineering tools such as Kubernetes and Airflow.
    • Strong business acumen and the ability to communicate very technical data science work to non-technical executives

The pay range for this position is: $250k-$285k per year. Please note that the foregoing compensation information is a good-faith assessment associated with this position only and is provided pursuant to the New York City Transparency Law.
