The Security Officer is responsible for protecting company assets, personnel, and information by ensuring the physical security of all facilities, monitoring security systems, and enforcing company policies. This role is critical in maintaining a safe and secure environment for employees and visitors while upholding compliance with industry regulations and local laws.

Duties and Responsabilities

    • Physical Security & Monitoring
    • Patrol and monitor office premises, entrances, and restricted areas to prevent unauthorized access or suspicious activity.
    • Operate and monitor surveillance systems, access control systems, and intrusion detection alarms.
    • Conduct regular inspections of security equipment and report any malfunctions or safety hazards.
    • Incident Response & Reporting
    • Respond promptly to security alarms, emergencies, and incidents (theft, vandalism, unauthorized entry, etc.).
    • Complete detailed incident and shift reports; escalate critical issues to the VP of Security & Investigations.
    • Cooperate with law enforcement, emergency responders, and regulatory agencies as required.
    • Policy Enforcement & Compliance
    • Enforce security policies, visitor protocols, and ID badge procedures in compliance with company and financial industry standards.
    • Support audits and regulatory inspections related to facility security.
    • Assist with training and onboarding for staff regarding security and emergency procedures.
    • Employee and Visitor Safety
    • Provide security escort services for employees or visitors as needed.
    • Information Security Responsibilities
    •  Read, acknowledge, and comply with Viamericas Staff Information Security Policy via the Information Security training portal.  This should be done within 30 days of hire and repeated annually.
    • Attend periodic Information Security training provided by Viamericas’.
    • Report any event that might be an Information Security Incident: clicked on a malicious link, downloaded, and opened a suspicious file, etc.

Qualifications

    • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or security certifications preferred.
    • Prior experience in corporate or financial institution security (minimum 3 years preferred).
    • Familiarity with access control systems, CCTV, and alarm systems.
    • Basic knowledge of safety and emergency response protocols.
    • Good communication and interpersonal skills; bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred.
    • Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions during emergencies.
    • Strong sense of integrity and ability to always maintain confidentiality.
    • High level of attention to detail with excellent situational awareness to identify and respond to potential risks.
    • Skilled in conflict resolution and de-escalation techniques to manage challenging situations effectively.
    • Demonstrated physical fitness, stamina, and alertness required for security duties.
    • Proven ability to work well in team-oriented environments with strong collaboration skills.

Working Conditions

    • General office working conditions. Rotating shifts may include nights, weekends, and holidays.
