WHAT YOU’LL DO

Viant’s customers use the Demand Side Platform (DSP)to set up, run and monitor ad campaigns. The platform team owns a complex set of backend services and the frontend UI that makes up the DSP. These services are deployed in a distributed, multi-region, cloud-based infrastructure and use the latest technologies to handle the immensely complicated functionality that is part of any Demand Side Platform (DSP) such as Viant DSP. 

As a senior engineer on the Platform team, you will work on building software that solves complex problems while considering long-term strategy and direction. You will deliver simple, elegant, scalable, extensible solutions that strike the right balance between short-term and long-term considerations. You will design, develop, maintain and trouble software features with an eye on cost, scalability, performance and fault-tolerance. You will participate in design discussions, code reviews and bug triage / Root Cause Analysis (RCA) sessions.

Primarily supporting Viant’s DSP, you will collaborate with Product, other Engineering and Technical operations teams on the entire lifecycle from ideation to productization and beyond.

THE DAY-TO-DAY

    • Designing, developing, testing, debugging, and deploying applications using various technologies in a hybrid cloud environment in AWS and GCE.
    • Writing SQL queries.
    • Write ETL jobs.
    • Solving complex performance problems, architectural challenges, and production issues.
    • Collaborate with product owners, fellow engineers, and operations team members.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

    • Minimum B.S in computer science, mathematics, or related field.
    • 5+ years of professional experience in the software industry
    • Experience with OOP related languages like Java or Golang
    • Experience with web services or RESTful services or micro-services.
    • Experience with databases like MySQL or SQL Server or Oracle or Postgres.
    • Exposure or understanding of cloud-based, container-based, NoSQL, caching, queuing/pub-sub technologies preferred

$130,000 - $180,000 a year
In accordance with California law, the range provided is Viant’s reasonable estimate of the compensation for this role. Final title and compensation for the position will be based on several factors including work experience and education.
