Role Description
As the EHS Manager, you will work alongside our technical and operations teams to build and drive a best-in-class safety program and culture across our growing organization. You will lead the development and continuous improvement of safety programs for Via’s headquarters and operations at customer manufacturing sites. You will serve as Via’s subject matter expert on Environmental, Health and Safety requirements and best practices. This role is an excellent opportunity for a candidate ready to scope and set up an EHS management system for a growing start-up, but also is excited to roll up their sleeves and implement EHS processes and standards. 

Responsibilities Include

    • Develop and  implement company EHS Management System including generating EHS procedures, work instructions and check lists; monitoring company EHS objectives; liaising with local contractors regarding EHS; assessing risks. EHS Management System will cover lab and field activities. 
    • Monitor compliance to policies, standards and procedures; run compliance audits and self-audits, including post-assessment summaries and corrective action plans. 
    • Analyze EHS trends. Identify opportunities and develop plans for improvements. 
    • Develop and run root cause, corrective action process for EHS reported incidents. Support management in investigations of failures and accidents. Advise management on corrective actions required. 
    • Identify, build and update key EHS training and requirements. Track and coordinate EHS training for Via personnel and contractors as needed. 
    • Maintain a high level of EHS awareness among personnel through communication, training and promoting involvement in EHS programs.
    • Ensure EHS documentation is updated and available onsite. 
    • Maintain EHS permits and licenses in compliance with Federal, State, and Local regulations for all areas of Via operations.
    • Assist facilities expansion project by communicating safety requirements for all spaces in new building (office, lab, prototyping)

The ideal candidate will have most, if not all, of these qualifications:

    • 4+ years of EHS experience with a focus in industrial manufacturing environments and chemistry wet lab environments required.
    • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field preferred 
    • Proven track record in EHS, with knowledge of Federal, State and local EHS laws, regulations, codes and best management practices
    • Demonstrated experience creating and documenting procedures, processes and audits. Experience developing and implementing EHS Management System a plus. 
    • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), or willingness to become CSP / CIH certified (company sponsored)
    • You must be: organized & detail-oriented, adaptable, able to prioritize and balance multiple projects, team-oriented, and love to troubleshoot and think critically.
    • U.S. Work authorization is required for this role.
