Your mission is to keep your squads happy and shipping, and strive to make an environment where Engineers want and do the best work of their lives. You're highly technical, hands-on, and have consistently led teams to deliver large scale enterprise software with agility.
Your work is 45% focused around long-term planning with your Product counterpart, 45% managing engineering scrum teams, and 10% in the tech and architecture.
Prerequisites
- BS in Computer Science is required (or 10+ years in equivocal tech experience)
- Experience managing technical teams for 5+ years
- Experience facilitating scrum teams, agile processes, continuous integration and delivery
- A pattern of delivery of enterprise-class software
- PLEASE READ: We have 2 domain-specific open roles, you EITHER have: 1) experience in building / managing a DSP (Demand Side Platform) for digital video ad delivery OR 2) experience in productizing data products, and delivering to customers via API integrations.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the delivery of products with one or more squads
- Participate in the continuous improvement of team by leading / facilitating sprint retrospectives
- Ensuring appropriate level of process for CI/CD
- Ensuring adherence to technical standards, defining and ensuring teams deliver with respect to the "definition of done"
- Run a pipeline to facilitate engineering teams to screen and hire talent
- Identify and encourage new potential leaders
- Identify areas where our growth strategies apply to engineers
- Having 100% clarity on who is working on what in your entire org, every role tagged to job descriptions
- Assist the scrum master and product owner in backlog grooming, breaking stories into tasks.
- Validating the technical efficacy of product designs in an ongoing basis.
- 1:1s with direct-reports
- Provide quarterly reviews for direct-reports
- Observe team morale, and handle morale and staff-related issues.
