Each Village Capital program trains 12 early-stage enterprises and consists of three 4-day workshops over the course of 3 months. Enterprises refine their business models through mentorship, customer interaction, and investor engagement. At the end of the program, the entrepreneurs evaluate one another from the lens of an investor. The top companies, as ranked by their peers, receive seed capital.
ShelterTech 2017 will be held in Mexico City from April - June. The program will focus on entrepreneurs increasing access to energy, water and affordable housing for residents across Mexico.
Program facilitators are the backbone of a Village Capital programs, leading workshops for the 12 early-stage entrepreneur teams in the program cohort. Each workshop consists of 12-15 training modules over 4 days, supplemented by events planned and executed by Village Capital program associates. Facilitators lead most modules, but also prep subject matter experts who may come in to lead modules on specific topics (e.g. Fundraising, marketing/PR, HR, etc.)
•Become certified as Village Capital facilitator through Village Capital’s facilitation training program.
•Become comfortable with facilitator materials (powerpoint presentations, program materials) in advance of workshop, customizing as required to ensure comfort in presenting the material.
•Arriving at workshop location one day in advance of workshop to prep with the Village Capital program team.
•Coordinate with the Village Capital program team to prepare guest speakers for specific modules in advance of workshop.
•Facilitate full 4-day entrepreneur training program, with support of Village Capital program staff.
You’re a confident, effective communicator and presenter. As program facilitator, you’re running the show. You’re comfortable in front of a room explaining concepts and managing dialogue and discussion. You can think on your feet, read a room, and shift the direction of the module if needed.
You’re excited about working with the most cutting-edge early-stage entrepreneurs in the world. You believe in Village Capital’s mission and you like to sell what you believe in. As the face of the Village Capital workshop for the entrepreneurs and mentors who participate, an essential part of this role is to continually prove the value of the program to entrepreneurs, pipeline partners and others.
You understand startups. You’ve worked in one yourself, you’ve invested in them, trained them, or have spent significant time around them and understand what it takes to make a startup succeed.

Compensation: Facilitators will be compensated on a daily rate; rate will be commensurate with experience.
