Our direct-to-consumer service analyzes gene expressions (mRNA) to provide individuals with health insights and precision nutrition to live a healthier life. This platform of >1,000,000 samples enables us to enhance our understanding of human biology as a system to develop predictive biomarkers, precision diagnostics, and precision therapeutics to prevent and intercept chronic diseases.
Viome seeks a dynamic and highly skilled Precision Nutrition Product Formulator to join our multidisciplinary science and product innovation team. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in nutrition science, dietary supplements, and functional ingredients to help advance Viome’s personalized health offerings. You’ll play a critical role in supplement and product formulation, AI-driven product logic, customer education, and cross-functional project execution.
Responsibilities
- Product Innovation & Development
- Collaborate with partners to develop, maintain, and refine novel personalized supplement and biotic products such as lozenges, capsules, toothpastes, RTM drink mixes, and functional foods.
- Lead formulation updates, sensory testing, ingredient sourcing, and product documentation for supplements and functional foods.
- Manage external vendor relationships to ensure quality, compliance, and innovation alignment.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams on product launch readiness, forecasting, product labeling, and product education.
- Curate and maintain a knowledge base of clinically supported foods and supplement ingredients.
- Stay abreast of emerging trends, regulatory changes, and new ingredient innovations in the dietary supplement and personalized health space.
- Conduct regular reviews and lead efforts in ongoing quality, cost, and efficacy improvements.
- Collaborate with engineering and data science teams to implement and validate updates.
- Customer-Facing Science & Education
- Respond to customer and internal inquiries related to nutrition, test results, and personalized supplement products.
- Represent Viome in live product education sessions, Q&As, webinars, and community events.
- Develop and deliver internal training, product launch content, and marketing support based on science-backed insights.
Qualifications
- Required Skills & Experience
- Master’s degree or PhD in Nutrition Science, Biochemistry, or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- 5+ years of experience in dietary supplement formulation and product development.
- Expertise in ingredient sourcing, product claims substantiation, and compliance labeling.
- Experience taking a dietary supplement product from concept to launch.
- Strong analytical skills; able to manage large datasets using spreadsheets and SQL.
- Experience using tools like Google Suite, Jira, Confluence, and Slack.
- Solid understanding of AI-driven wellness platforms and digital health applications.
- Effective communicator and science educator—comfortable speaking on camera and engaging diverse audiences.
- Familiarity with regulatory standards for dietary supplements (DSHEA, FDA guidelines, etc.).
- Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with functional medicine concepts and practices
- Knowledge of systems biology, microbiome science, metagenomics, or metatranscriptomics
- Public speaking or teaching experience in health and wellness contexts.
$130,000 - $150,000 a year
