About You:
You are eager to conceptualize, design, and implement various laboratory automation techniques. You want to conceive, develop, and validate automation solutions for leading-edge medical diagnostics and will continue to scale novel technology platforms to contribute to the care of patients. You are willing to manage capital equipment and improvements projects, as well as work closely with vendors and contractors. You will also partner with QA on preparing and approving validation and other documents and procedures essential for regulatory compliance.

What you'll do:

    • Design precision electro mechanical and fluidic aspirating/dispensing mechanisms;
    • Design advanced precision motion equipment for controlled applications;
    • Work cross-functionally with Quality, Regulatory, and Manufacturing organizations;
    • Compare performance and cost of design options in a data driven manner;
    • Create mechanical models and tolerance analyses to simulate mechatronic design concepts;
    • Perform risk analysis, develop test plans, and execute verification testing of subsystems and systems;
    • Follow through on transfer of new products into manufacturing, track issues in manufacturing and the field, and implement resolution of issues;
    • Resolve equipment failures with focus on root cause(s). Lead and assist with defining and implementing corrective and preventive actions, and resolution to audit findings;
    • Prepare, complete and support validations (IQ/OQ/PQ) to meet applicable FDA and regulatory requirements;
    • Collaborate with R&D team to integrate manufacturing principles (DFM/DFA) for new products.

What you need:

    • BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Physics, or related fields;
    • 5+ years academic or relevant experience within the biotech industry with proven knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Procedures (cGMP) compliance;
    • Strong mechatronics system engineering and design trades skills;
    • Understanding of the control methods, analog and discrete and the critical components to developing sustainable control algorithms;
    • Experienced in product development, transfer to manufacturing, and documentation;
    • Experience in biomedical instruments, biological assays, and/or genetic analysis equipment is preferred.

Bonus points for:

    • Experience in fluidic analysis is a plus;
    • Experience in microfluidic device/manifold design, fabrication, and testing;
    • Experience in FDA regulated markets is a plus;
    • Appreciation of puns!
