About the role: VitroLabs is looking for a Technical Operations Specialist/Manager to support the Operations Team in all areas of laboratory and facilities operations, including routine equipment maintenance, developing process documentation, troubleshooting issues, forecasting inventory needs, and a variety of other operational procedures. This role is an amazing opportunity to gain experience in Laboratory and/or Facilities Operations in an emerging new market category --lab-grown leather.  

About you: The ideal candidate would be someone who is results-oriented, excited to wear multiple-hats and jump in where needed, and is dedicated to always driving toward system efficiencies and improvements. The successful candidate will be comfortable working in the ambiguity that comes with a fast-paced, and dynamic environment, has excellent project management skills and can guide cross-functional projects from start to finish.

Responsibilities

    • Work closely with the Director of Facilities and the R&D team to support and improve the safety and workflow of a functional lab environment including monthly internal lab safety audits, attending safety committee meetings etc.
    • Perform day-to-day routine equipment maintenance, schedule calibration/preventative maintenance, organize lab operation processes, and support general lab and technical operation activities in collaboration with R&D laboratory team to promote a safe and efficient working environment
    • Manage shipping and receiving of sensitive materials including but not limited to; dry ice, cold packs, liquid nitrogen, CO2, hazardous waste, etc. Partner with the facilities and laboratory teams to calibrate, trouble shoot, and coordinate action plans for small laboratory equipment repairs (eg. changing out filters in incubators, scheduling BSC certification, etc.) 
    • Vendor management including but not limited to scheduling, safety documentation, service agreements, etc. Document and maintain audit, equipment and supply reports, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and recurring operational processes.
    • Perform duties as assigned in conjunction with the Technical Operations team

Qualifications & Skills

    • BA, BS or equivalent with 3-5 years of experience in laboratory operations or life science industry. Prior exposure to the implementation of a wet lab in molecular biology, biochemistry, or cell culture is a plus. 
    • Skilled in vendor management, shipping and receiving, environmental health and safety (EH&S), laboratory risk assessments, lab and biosafety responsibilities, electronic lab data management, equipment maintenance, documentation and reporting.

Employment Requirements

    • Authorized to work in the U.S.
    • Ability to work a flexible work schedule including early mornings, late evenings, and some weekends.

Salary Range

    • $75,000 - $100,000 DOE
