As Head of Platform Engineering (d/f/m) your responsibilities will include:
- building, scaling, and mentoring a high-performing DevOps / Site Reliability Engineering team, fostering a culture of ownership, collaboration, and technical excellence and acting as a servant leader who empowers engineers to do their best work
- defining and communicating a long-term platform and infrastructure roadmap aligned with vivenu’s product and business goals while prioritizing key initiatives such as scalability, observability, deployment velocity, and resilience
- driving the definition and implementation of SLIs/SLOs, introducing system-wide observability standards, and ensuring best-in-class uptime and recovery strategies, also leading incident response efforts and post-mortems with clarity and calm
- designing, building, and maintaining cloud infrastructure capable of handling >1 billion monthly requests; defining and maintaining modular, reusable infrastructure components and managing Kubernetes fleets with high availability in mind
- partnering closely with development and product teams to continuously improve deployment workflows, optimize build and release pipelines, and enable self-service infrastructure for product teams via efficient CI/CD practices
- staying technically engaged with contributing to architecture discussions, troubleshoot critical issues, and leading technical evaluations, to set the bar high and lead by example in reliability, security, and performance
What you will need to succeed in this role:
- proven Leadership Experience, a track record of successfully building, leading, and coaching high-impact DevOps/Platform Engineering teams in high-growth or high-scale environments
- deep Kubernetes Expertise with a deep understanding of container orchestration, pod lifecycle, scaling strategies, and cluster resilience, knowing how to keep deployments stable even during flash-sale traffic spikes
- extensive hands-on experience with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native monitoring, and at least one cloud platform (ideally GCP, otherwise AWS/Azure), knowing how to automate, scale, and observe everything
- System Reliability Focus and a strong foundation in defining and rolling out SLIs/SLOs, proactive failure recovery strategies, and self-healing infrastructure, while understanding how to strike a balance between perfection and pragmatism
- strategic and tactical thinking, to thrive in both the strategy room and in the terminal, while balancing long-term platform vision with short-term delivery needs without being afraid to get the hands dirty when needed
- strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex technical topics to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders, and to collaborate cross-functionally, while bringing people along with your thinking
- Resilience and the ability to stay calm under pressure, whether during outages, shifting priorities, or leadership challenges, the nature to remain focused, supportive, and solution-oriented with the expericience of leading teams through complexity with clarity and confidence
- being a Mentor with a Builder's Mindset, enjoying coaching others, cultivating engineering culture, and building systems that scale in both technology and human terms while taking pride in creating environments where engineers grow and infrastructure hums
