Your Responsibilities
- Team Leadership: Build, scale, and mentor a high-performing DevOps / Site Reliability Engineering team. Foster a culture of ownership, collaboration, and technical excellence. Act as a servant leader who empowers engineers to do their best work.
- Strategic Platform Vision: Define and communicate a long-term platform and infrastructure roadmap aligned with vivenu’s product and business goals. Prioritize key initiatives such as scalability, observability, deployment velocity, and resilience.
- Operational Excellence: Drive the definition and implementation of SLIs/SLOs, introduce system-wide observability standards, and ensure best-in-class uptime and recovery strategies. Lead incident response efforts and post-mortems with clarity and calm.
- Infrastructure Ownership: Design, build, and maintain cloud infrastructure capable of handling >1 billion monthly requests. Define and maintain modular, reusable infrastructure components and manage Kubernetes fleets with high availability in mind.
- Process & Delivery Optimization: Partner closely with development and product teams to continuously improve deployment workflows, optimize build and release pipelines, and enable self-service infrastructure for product teams via efficient CI/CD practices.
- Hands-on Leadership: Stay technically engaged—contribute to architecture discussions, troubleshoot critical issues, and lead technical evaluations. You set the bar high and lead by example in reliability, security, and performance.
What We’re Looking For
- Proven Leadership Experience: A track record of successfully building and leading high-impact DevOps/Platform Engineering teams in high-growth or high-scale environments. You’ve hired, coached, and retained top talent in fast-moving settings.
- Deep Kubernetes Expertise: You are a Kubernetes expert with a deep understanding of container orchestration, pod lifecycle, scaling strategies, and cluster resilience. You know how to keep deployments stable even during flash-sale traffic spikes.
- Cloud & Automation Mastery: Extensive hands-on experience with Terraform, CI/CD pipelines, cloud-native monitoring, and at least one cloud platform (ideally GCP, otherwise AWS/Azure). You know how to automate, scale, and observe everything.
- System Reliability Focus: You bring a strong foundation in defining and rolling out SLIs/SLOs, proactive failure recovery strategies, and self-healing infrastructure. You understand how to strike a balance between perfection and pragmatism.
- Strategic & Tactical Thinking: You thrive in both the strategy room and in the terminal. You balance long-term platform vision with short-term delivery needs and aren’t afraid to get your hands dirty when needed.
- Strong Communicator & Collaborator: You’re able to clearly communicate complex technical topics to both engineers and non-technical stakeholders. You collaborate cross-functionally and bring people along with your thinking.
- Resilient and Calm Under Pressure: Whether during outages, shifting priorities, or leadership challenges—you remain focused, supportive, and solution-oriented. You lead teams through complexity with clarity and confidence.
- Mentor with a Builder's Mindset: You enjoy coaching others, cultivating engineering culture, and building systems that scale in both technology and human terms. You take pride in creating environments where engineers grow and infrastructure hums.
