THE ROLE
We’re a startup, beginning commercialization and delivery of our Instrument and platform to early-adopting customers this year. The Manufacturing Operations Director will report into the CEO, and will be leading the growth of our Manufacturing team as well as hands-on building up our in-house manufacturing processes. We are building our own factory to manufacture our Callisto Instrument, accessories, and consumables to create a low-volume, high-touch assembly line. You will spearhead establishing the initial production line, and then scale output by 50% this year to meet customer demand. This role is perfect for someone who wants to build a team from the ground up and be a hands-on technical expert to design and scale our manufacturing line.

DAY TO DAY AND YEAR 1
Driving logistics, delegating activities to the team, ensuring quality and safety through every step of the manufacturing and shipping process, and iterating regularly to scale everything from build instructions through quality checksTeam building activities of hiring, training, and professionally developing the Manufacturing team (5 headcount planned for 2024)Owning ERP setup, company rollout, and system improvementsInventory and planning activities - maintain required component levels to avoid overage or depletion

Within 3 months you’ll… have completed onboarding, be demonstrating ownership of manufacturing operations, participate in the ERP implementation, and support hiring as a technical expert

By 6 months you’ll… have built and refined the infrastructure and process for kit fill and finishing, and improved initial line production capacity by 50%. You’ll be owning your role as Hiring Manager, driving hiring for your team.

At 12+ months you’ll… own the factory expansion strategy project: assessing capacity, options, and best outcomes to advise the team, then executing on the plan. You’ll have integrated the industrial design shell, and will be supporting Performance Review & Promotion cycles for your team.

YOUR EXPERIENCE

    • Built an assembly line from zero or managed through extensive iterations to deliver a fully-launched product to a customer.
    • Managed a manufacturing team of 4+ that includes a combination of technicians, buyers, and engineers
    • Work experience with complex electromechanical assemblies (ideally manufacturing them)
    • Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) best practices awareness and implementation ability
    • Experience working cross-functionally with R&D and product teams on Design Transfer and New Product Introduction processes
    • Regulatory awareness at minimum, certification ideal for areas of: Product Safety and Emissions Certification (mechanical, electrical, and/or biological), IEC 61010, EMI / RF, CE, UKCA,  ISO 9001, ISO 13485, Electromagnetic or Radio-frequency interference (EMI/RF) UK and EU CA/CE for global launch
