Wachter is accepting applications for an Audio Visual (AV) Project Engineer. Ideal candidates possess industry experience providing technical oversight and support from the beginning of the design process through post-installation support of audio-visual projects. This position provides administrative and operational support to customers, Project Managers, and Field Technicians. This is a remote position with up to 15-25% travel.

Requirements:

    • 5 years of experience in the commercial Audio Visual industry.
    • Minimum of 3 years in an engineering or customer-facing role.
    • College or Technical Degree, preferred.
    • Valid design, engineering, or installation certifications as needed per specifications by the manufacturer (AVIXA CTS-I or CTS-D preferred, required within a year of hire date)
    • Available and willing to travel.  
    • Knowledgeable with Crestron Programming.
    • Experience and certifications with AV manufacturers and equipment including but not limited to: Crestron, Biamp, Extron, Atlona, Sure, and Cisco.
    • Advanced knowledge of Audio Visual hardware and software manufacturers such as Crestron, Extron, Biamp, QSC, Microsoft, Cisco, Zoom, Cambridge, and D-Tools, preferred.
    • Excellent customer relationship and communication skills; verbal and written.  
    • Computer/laptop/smartphone proficiency.  
    • Highly proficient with the use of email, spreadsheets, Microsoft, Visio, and the ability to learn internal systems.  
    • Maintain accurate records.
    • Work with customers, account managers, and project managers to design integrated or stand-alone AV solutions.
    • Identify special customer requirements, clearly communicate and document technical scopes of work.
    • Be able to identify, communicate, and document the sequence of tasks and dependencies.
    • Valid state driver's license.

Responsibilities:

    • Provided technical oversight and support from the beginning of the design process through post-installation support of audio-visual projects. 
    • Communicate effectively with commercial customers regarding their AV requirements and budgets.
    • Perform site walks and evaluates the lighting and acoustic properties of a room or rooms.
    • Design a fully functional audio and visual solution from a set of construction drawings or a site survey.
    • Work effectively with manufacturing and industry partners.
    • Collaborate with customers, project management, and other engineers when modifying a design or project plan.
    • Document technical information needed for field installation.
    • Commission AV equipment including control systems and DSP configurations.
    • Document technical information needed for field installation.
    • Be a tier 2 escalation point for field or customer-related issues.
    • Document for others and/or lead the commissioning process.
    • Perform onsite and remote technical customer training.
    • Additional duties may include but are not limited to developing schematics and architectural drawings, and commissioning AV hardware.  
    • Work with customers, project management, and field personnel to receive final customer approval on large and small audio-visual projects.

$85,000 - $100,000 a year
