Position Description:
 
We are looking for a Natural Gas Engineering Field Technician to join our ICE team to improve infrastructure in our Pittsburgh, PA office. Candidates must have a high school diploma and five or more years of related experience. The candidate must understand Natural Gas Codes associated with low pressure and high pressure distribution and transmission pipeline as well as metering and regulation. Understanding of natural gas fittings and equipment for both HDPE and Steel is required. Experience with the construction and commissioning of natural gas facilities is required. Excellent technical writing, organization and communication skills are essential. The Candidate must also be comfortable working in the field and must be self-motivated and able to work well with others. 

Typical responsibilities include:

    • This individual’s primary work would be associated with natural gas pipelines, pressure regulating equipment, and meters
    • Understand a wide variety of tasks in the field relating to the installation, testing, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of low pressure and high pressure distribution and transmission natural gas systems
    • Understand the intent of Wade Trim developed pipeline solutions to the extent that they can interpret and direct the client Project Manager and other client Field Representatives as to the intent of each project
    • Serve as the field representative associated with Wade Trim developed designs
    • Work hand in hand with clients Project Manager, Field Staff, and Construction crews to assist in situational decisions or guidance associated with Wade Trim developed plans and specifications
    • Be available to be on-site for both planned and emergency work
    • Understand permit regulations and limitations
    • Coordinate with internal Wade Trim staff
    • Identify and communicate any discrepancies between field conditions and the plans developed by Wade Trim
    • Able to recognize and react to Abnormal Operating Conditions
    • Work with both client and Wade Trim internal staff to develop and implement process improvements
    • Ability to work independently
    • Attend project-specific meetings with both client and Wade Trim internal staff
    • Review and understand 811 utility status for each project
    • Review installation redlines against planned installation plans
    • Conduct field visit and document field notes
    • Assist Project Managers as needed
    • Maintain excellent client relations
    • Maintain a safe working environment

Education:

    • High School Diploma or equivalent required

Skills/Experience:

    • 5 or more years of related experience required
    • Must understand Natural Gas Codes associated with low pressure and high pressure distribution and transmission pipeline as well as metering and regulation
    • Must understand natural gas fittings and equipment for both HDPE and Steel
    • Experience with the construction and commissioning of natural gas facilities
    • Must be able to report to the Wade Trim Pittsburgh Office, our Clients Pittsburgh Office, or construction site in the Greater Pittsburgh Metropolitan area at a minimum of 5 days a week
    • Great Communication is required
