About The Role

The Sr. Director of Audience Development and Marketing at WaitWhat will be responsible for creating and executing comprehensive marketing strategies across all touchpoints and stages of the consumer marketing funnel, including live events, digital media, newsletters, video, and partnerships. This individual will lead breakthrough marketing strategies and activations that cultivate brand loyalty, deepen audience engagement, and generate business growth. Equal parts creative and analytical, the right leader will bring a spirit of curiosity, collaboration, and strategic thinking to position WaitWhat and its content portfolio as the premier destination for unlocking human potential.

Strategic Leadership Responsibilities

    • Develop and oversee integrated marketing strategies aligned with WaitWhat’s business objectives, audience growth goals, and brand vision
    • Collaborate closely with editorial, product, and alliances teams to ensure marketing efforts support and amplify key initiatives
    • Administer marketing budget to optimize customer acquisition costs using data-driven strategies, including cost-per-acquisition metrics and A/B testing across channels
    • Strategize cross-functional campaigns that drive measurable outcomes, including audience acquisition, engagement, and retention
    • Manage a growing team of high-performing marketers, fostering collaboration and creativity to drive audience and business growth

Audience Development & Integrated Marketing Responsibilities

    • Lead innovative, experiential marketing strategies and cross-functional campaigns to drive audience growth across WaitWhat’s portfolio, including podcasts, newsletters, events, and digital platforms
    • Develop go-to-market strategies for new media property concepts and launches  
    • Monitor and analyze audience metrics across network shows, including maintaining data tracking systems, to guide podcast ad strategy and inventory management
    • Support a diverse portfolio of strategic events, including Masters of Scale Summit; identify new programming elements and audience curation strategies to create meaningful experiences
    • Facilitate strategic relationships with key event and media partners

Alliances & Business Development Support Responsibilities

    • Strategize and implement new initiatives with the Alliances team to generate revenue and drive audience engagement, such as the Masters of Scale Business Awards 
    • Guide strategy and development of data and materials to renew existing business relationships and generate new ones, including audience surveys, demographic data, and unique value proposition statements
    • Oversee audience-related deliverables in partner agreements, such as paid media, brand health surveys, and event guest curation; provide data analysis and summaries for each component

Brand & Content Strategy Responsibilities

    • Evolve WaitWhat’s brand positioning and ensure a consistent voice across all platforms and marketing initiatives
    • Develop messaging frameworks and content strategies to engage key personas
    • Partner with creative teams to produce compelling campaigns that resonate with target audiences and reinforce brand identity
    • Collaborate with external PR professionals to secure press coverage, managing award submissions, and identify opportunities for WaitWhat leadership and show hosts

Requirements

    • Minimum 8-10 years experience leading marketing for a premium content, events, or digital media brand, with expertise in audience development
    • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field
    • Proficiency with utilization of CRM tools, marketing analytics platforms, and audience engagement technologies
    • Superb strategic thinking and analytical skills with a data-driven approach to decision-making and budget administration
    • Experience fostering cross-functional collaboration with creative, editorial, and business development teams
    • Exceptional communicator and storyteller, well-versed in crafting messaging frameworks and brand narratives
$130,000 - $160,000 a year
The final salary for this position will depend on various factors, including the candidate's experience, skills, qualifications, and geographical location, as well as internal equity and market considerations. Please note that salary ranges are periodically reviewed and may be adjusted based on evolving business needs or changes in market conditions.
