Walker Consultants is seeking a talented and motivated Structural Engineering Intern to join our growing Structural Engineering team for Summer 2026! This is an exciting opportunity for a student who is eager to gain hands-on experience in both new design and restoration projects. You’ll contribute to the structural analysis, design, and delivery of new construction while also assisting with the evaluation and rehabilitation of existing structures.
As part of our team, you’ll help shape skylines and preserve structures across a region known for its architectural diversity, seismic challenges, and forward-looking design standards. Your work will directly support the creation of resilient, innovative, and lasting solutions for our clients and communities—all while learning alongside some of the best minds in the industry.
$23 - $25 an hour
What You’ll Do
- Develop and coordinate architectural/structural drawings (plans, elevations, sections, details) and prepare supporting calculations and reports.
- Perform or assist with structural analysis and detailing for conventional components, including superstructures, foundations, and soil/earth-retention systems.
- Build and maintain coordinated 3D BIM models in Revit for design, clash coordination, and documentation.
- Interpret and apply building codes and other regulatory requirements.
- Collaborate with Project Architects/Engineers; participate in internal meetings to keep deliverables on track.
- Review construction-phase documents, submittals, and shop drawings for conformance.
- Conduct site visits and construction observation; prepare field reports; participate in condition assessments of existing facilities.
- Develop an understanding of end-to-end project delivery.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Bring
- Current student pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited university.
- Knowledge and experience using Revit is preferred.
- Understanding of Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, and AutoCAD is a plus.
- Excellent written, verbal, and visual communication skills with a range of individuals, including clients, consultants, and other architects.
- Reliable access to a personal vehicle is required for the duration of employment.
- Curiosity, initiative, and a passion for both designing new structures and preserving existing ones.
