The Associate Director of Ind Giving and Special Events works cross-functionally with the entire Advancement Team. This position primarily supports Washburn Center’s Annual Fund, manages a portfolio of mid-level individual donors of $2,500 to 9,999, and special event sponsors. This position is a crucial development team member who works under the supervision of the Director of Development and Major Gifts. Demonstrated strong project management skills to keep multiple tasks moving across timelines and teams. Must have the ability to handle task prioritization and balancing of several projects.

Annual Fund
* Collaborating with the Director of Development and Major Gifts, develop and implement comprehensive Annual Fund strategies to meet Washburn Center’s short and long-term philanthropic needs and maximize revenue from mid-level individual giving and special event engagement.
* Coordinate efforts to sustain and grow the individual mid-level donor category and implement practices to increase donor acquisition, retention, and upgraded giving to the major gifts category.
* Manage a portfolio of 250-300 current and prospective mid-level donors and institutional event sponsors, emphasizing cultivating these donors to deeper engagement and financial commitment.
* Create and implement a highly engaging donor cultivation plan to retain first-time donors and develop special campaign-related giving (i.e., workplace giving, tribute gifts, etc)
* Collaborate closely with the marketing and communications team on strategies to support and execute fundraising campaigns across multiple platforms and channels, ensuring consistency in voice, tone, and messaging.
* Project manage the annual direct mail campaigns, including but not limited to list segmentation, generating queries, mailing lists, and reports from Raiser’s Edge.

Event Administration – Washburn Classic and Fall Fundraiser
* In partnership with the Director of Development and Major Gifts, clarify each event's primary purpose and goal and develop corresponding success metrics, such as fundraising or awareness building.
* In partnership with Marketing & Communications, create compelling online and print communication pieces for event promotion and other related materials.
* Work closely with the event committee(s) to secure sponsorship and/or in-kind donations that will contribute to the financial success of special events.
* Manage the special event committee(s). This includes, but not limited to, meeting logistics, creating agendas, communications, note-taking, and meeting follow-up.
* Create and manage event timelines in coordination with colleagues across departments to ensure on-time delivery of all elements, including, but not limited to, marketing, mailing lists, invitations, event staging, promotion, auctions, entertainment, speakers, venue, and refreshments.
* Manage the event budget to maximize event quality and fundraising return on investment.
* Issue invoices and collect payments in a timely fashion, focusing on donor/sponsor stewardship.
* Create comprehensive financial reports for event stakeholders.
* Manage and oversee event day logistics, which requires problem-solving, welcoming guests, directing set-up and take down, managing live and silent auctions, managing event volunteers, communicating with staff, organizing vendors, and other logistics.
* Track participant and event information, including but not limited to attendees, revenue, and expenses in Raiser’s Edge.
* Manage relationships with all event vendors and in-kind donors.
* Manage post-event wrap-up and accurate financial reporting to committees, evaluate event activities, and identify opportunities to improve results.

Other duties as assigned based on organizational priorities.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications:

    • College degree in non-profit administration, business marketing, management, communications, public relations, or related experience.
    • Minimum 5-7 years of progressively responsible work experience in individual giving and special events.
    • Positive individual with excellent attention to detail and follow-through and the ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, achieve goals, prioritize and manage multiple tasks, and work within a budget.
    • A team player who is self-motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to generate new ideas and strategies that help build a compelling, high-return-on-investment special event program.
    • Creative thinker who meets challenges with innovation and resourcefulness.
    • Strong desire to engage, solicit, and steward event sponsors.
    • Strong written and verbal communication is required to develop event-related communications.
    • Access to reliable transportation.
    • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance.
    • Ability to work evenings and weekends.
    • Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take the initiative, resolve problems, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities to ensure goals are met promptly.
    • Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge and Raiser’s Edge NXT and supporting technologies.
    • Experience within a nonprofit or healthcare/social service organization preferred.
$70,000 - $75,000 a year
The starting salary range is $70-75k commensurate with experience. This is a full-time, exempt position with work hours primarily Monday-Friday during the agency’s regular business hours, with some evenings and weekends required
