The Environmental Services/Laundry Manager is an essential part of the Environmental Services team, maintaining a high standard of housekeeping throughout the facility by demonstrating leadership and oversight to staff, maintaining a high level of motivation. 

Responsibilities

    • Primary accountability for ensuring agreed standards of cleanliness and hygiene is maintained in assigned areas (Health Center, Catered Living, Laundry, and Independent Living) in accordance with correct procedures and administration. 
    • Provides leadership, guidance, and training to the staff in performing a variety of housekeeping functions to ensure that staff maintains a high level of confidence in their work.
    • Organizes day to day work requirements and set required standards against which work will be checked and reviewed, in accordance with correct procedures and administration (including daily random inspections, minimum 7 inspections required per week).  
    • Prepares daily schedules to plan, project and fulfill all customer needs including scheduling major projects while assuring adequate staff and supplies are available to perform such tasks.
    • Ensures that all equipment, furniture, and furnishings are maintained, checked, and kept in good working order in accordance with correct procedures and report all relevant faults.
    • Assist in the development of a system that can evaluate, analyze, and improve housekeeping performance.  Works closely with the Director of Facilities Services on department budget and assists with annual budget process.
    • Oversee the inventory of housekeeping supplies, orders to par levels, while keeping costs in line with approved budget.
    • Ensures that all necessary housekeeping is carried out in all areas of the community for overall safety and improvement of the facility.  Ensures that special requests, complaints or feedback from residents, guests or staff are dealt with in a timely and cost-effective manner.
    • Ensures linen is dealt with in accordance with the procedures and proper administration and provide recommendations every month for the proper replacement of damaged linens.
    • Coordinate the routine annual maintenance of all housekeeping vehicles.
    • Liaise with relevant departments, in a timely fashion, to ensure that expectations are consistently met and, where possible, exceeded.
    • Plan, conduct and lead regular departmental staff meetings. 

Qualifications

    • Knowledge of general office equipment including computer, telephone, printer, shredder, copier.
    • Ability to create and edit necessary forms and documents in Excel and Word.
    • Competent in the ability to communicate in writing and orally to relay accurate and relevant information tailored to a variety of audiences and situations.
    • Ability to lift or carry up to 30 pounds without assistance, 31+ with manual or mechanical assistance.
    • Ability to push or pull up to 35 lbs.
    • Considerable amount of sitting, bending, standing, and walking.

Requirements

    • This position requires a HS degree and a minimum of three years of supervisory/leadership experience in an applicable role.
    • Experience in a long-term care or CCRC setting preferred. 
    • Must possess a valid driver’s license in the State of Virginia and be insurable under the company’s insurance program.
    • CPR Certification preferred.
