Reporting to the Senior Manager, Accounting, the successful candidate will build and shape internal controls that will be used by Wealthsimple to ensure safeguarding of assets, accurate reporting and internal efficiency.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to:

    • Perform annual walkthroughs to ensure that controls exist as documented and add any new processes based on annual ICFR scoping. Work with stakeholders to remediate control deficiencies as necessary.
    • Manage external auditors with respect to internal control work and identify opportunities for audit efficiencies through control reliance. Coordinate testing activities relating to: a) Interim and year-end financial reporting audits for all entities b) SOC 1 Type 2 audit c) Other audits requiring control work as they arise.
    • Take a hands-on approach to developing the new control documentation required, create a cross-functional project plan to ensure documentation is complete and project manage all aspects to ensure deadlines are met with high quality outputs.
    • Proactively work with internal stakeholders to determine the impact certain decisions will have to the financial processes, operations and engineering.
    • Work with technology to develop best in class documentation and controls solutions.

We're looking for someone who:

    • Has 5+ years internal control experience with CPA designation.
