About the team:
The Credit Data Science & Engineering team consists of data scientists and analytics developers with diverse educational backgrounds. The team is responsible for delivering state-of-the-art data infrastructure and machine learning solutions to support data-driven credit risk and product management at Wealthsimple, with a growing focus on scaling our VISA Credit Card. The team is staffed with seasoned data experts and well supported by product managers, software developers, and credit strategy experts.
About the Role:
We are hiring for a Senior Analytics Developer specializing in credit card collections. You will be responsible for building robust, efficient and integrated data models that enable our collections process to scale. These data models will serve as the foundation of our collections strategy, allowing the team to monitor key performance metrics including account volumes, charge-offs, promise-to-pay rates, recovery rates, and contact effectiveness.
In this role, you will have the opportunity to:
- Build and maintain data models in our data warehouse to track collections performance metrics and serve as the foundation for our collections prioritization model
- Develop attribution logic for payments and account cures to accurately measure collections effectiveness
- Create monitoring systems and alerts for collections processes, including email campaigns and outbound call operations
- Design and implement data pipelines for third-party collections agencies, including assignment, recall, and direct payment tracking
- Collaborate with CX teams to incorporate agent performance metrics into the collections data model
- Support implementation and data integration of third party software
- Ensure data models are well tested, documented and maintained for long-term scalability
What you'll bring:
- Deep understanding of credit card collections processes including delinquency stages, recovery strategies, and charge-off management
- Knowledge of payment processing systems and reconciliation workflows
- Familiarity with cure rates, roll rates, and collections performance metrics
- Understanding of regulatory requirements for collections activities and customer communications
- Strong technical skills in manipulating large data sets with SQL and Python
- Expertise in data visualization and performance monitoring dashboards
- Excellent communicator who is able to translate business requirements into data models and maintain clear documentation
- Results-driven: keeping things simple to achieve business goals
- Curiosity: willing to dive deep into product strategies and collections context
- Experience with dbt is a plus
