Mission

Fund Operations will contribute to the operational functions related to both the Alternative Investment Funds manufactured by Wealthsimple and any future operational Fund construction.

In this role, you will:

    • Be a leader of the Fund Operations team responsible for managing the funds created by Wealthsimple Investments Inc as an Investment Fund Manager.
    • Work directly with the Asset Management, Compliance, Product, Trading, Tax and R&D teams to ensure the Fund Operations processes are efficient and according to industry guidelines.
    • Lead the team handling the daily operational processes that ensures accuracy of clients and Funds records.
    • Create Funds from an operational perspective and set up the fund Administration, custody arrangements, transfer agent agreements, sub-advisors documentation and onboarding Funds to Fundserv.
    • Consult with Legal partners on the review and negotiation of contracts with Fund Administrators and Custodians.
    • Tasked with advising and finding the most efficient and sustainable way to set up Private Funds and Fund of Funds
    • Tasked with operationally wrapping a Fund, working with Sub-Advisors and facilitating direct investments.
    • Work with legal and the Asset Manager on the Offering Memorandums and Green Sheets.
    • Use data to identify inefficiencies and propose solutions.

We're looking for people who:

    • Have at least 10 years experience working at a fund management or fund administration company.  This person has experience launching new funds, onboarding funds onto custodians, working with fund administrators and sub-advisors.
    • Have expertise in working with the middle office and tax teams to build out policies and procedures of the Fund
    • Be a subject matter expert in fund creation and fund Administration, and experienced in working with custodians, transfer agents, and sub-advisors.
    • Be a subject matter expert on Fundserv from a fund manufacturing and dealer perspective.
    • Have expertise in setting up Private Funds and Fund of Funds and are familiar with various liquidity measures
    • Have experience with the production of an Offering Memorandum and Green Sheet
