DREAM (formerly known as DREAM Charter School and Harlem RBI), is an innovative educational and youth development organization, serving over 2,500 East Harlem and South Bronx youth by providing free, high-quality summer and after-school programs to youth ages 5-22 years in an intensive multi-year commitment that connects youth and families to age-appropriate programs and passionate professional staff over time.

DREAM is seeking dynamic individuals to serve as School and Program Data Interns. The ideal candidate understands and values DREAM’s comprehensive approach to youth development and inspire, lead, and motivate DREAM staff to drive outcomes that support youth in recognizing their potential and realizing their dreams.

Summer 2020 School and Program Data Intern Roles:
- HS Data Intern
- Data and Evaluation Intern

High School Data Intern

    • Support updating student information systems and key data process related to registration and enrollment for SY 2021.
    • Support EOY process for SY 19-20 such as Regents administration, storing grades for SY 19- 20 Semester 2, and school year rollover in our student information system.
    • Create reports and data visualizations to display student achievement data and other key performance indicators.
    • Support the SY 2021 Semester 1 scheduling process by programming students in Excel and in our student information system.
    • Create a system for organizing and storing the DREAM HS assessment library; including creating a system for digitally storing and organizing previous assessments and physically organizing old Regents assessments.
    • Support Summer School processes such as Summer Diagnostics assessments and August Regents.
    • Hours: Monday - Thursday (Flexible, Min 30 hours)
    • Location: East Harlem

    • QUALIFICATIONS
    • Enrolled in Undergraduate or Master Program
    • Intermediate or advanced in Excel (proficiency with vlookup, counifs, pivot tables and chart generation preferred) and eager to work in an education setting.
    • Ideal candidate has strong attention to detail, is able to keep track of multiple tasks, and approaches both analytical and administrative tasks with the same level of enthusiasm.

Data and Evaluation Intern

    • The Data & Evaluation Intern will be able to apply and strengthen their skill sets, while also gaining insight on evaluation methods specific to both the education and non-profit sector.
    • Support the Data Department with special projects;
    • Perform medium-sized data & survey entry tasks;
    • Prepare and store organizational data;
    • Drive toward action and results by entering massive quantities of data quickly and error-free within the contours assigned by Evaluation staff;
    • Adapt to change by focusing efforts on highest priority tasks and maintaining focus and drive across different projects;
    • Works smart on research projects that will be used either in programs or to drive program decision-making
    • Hours: Monday - Thursday (Flexible, Min 30 hours)
    • Location: East Harlem


    • QUALIFICATIONS
    • Enrolled in an Undergraduate or Master Program ;
    • Strong attention to details and excel experience;
    • Strong technical skills including fluency with Microsoft Excel (proficiency with vlookup, countif, pivot tables, charts preferred);
    • Interest in data management and relational databases;
    • Previous database experience or coursework would be a plus;
    • Ability to work independently as well as within a team;
    • Exceptional attention to detail;
    • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills;
    • Interest in working in an organization that focuses on social impact

Program Overview:
- 10 Week Program ( June 8- August 14). Note, some intern roles are asked to have earlier start dates.
- June On-boarding and Orientation Week.
- Group Events ( Speed Networking, Professional Speaker Panel, Team Outing).
- Intern roles are Unpaid: NYC Metro Card will be provided and course credit/ volunteer credits can be applied.
