MAIN PURPOSE OF JOB

Software QA Engineers are responsible for overall product quality, in charge with functional testing. Although testing is one important aspect of ensuring this, Software QA Engineers should be able to think holistically and create systems, processes and tools to both measure and assess quality across many dimensions. Usability, stability, performance, security, and correctness are all in the purview of a Software QA Engineer.

MAIN DUTIES

    • The following is a non-exhaustive list of responsibilities and areas of ownership of the Software QA Tester:
    • Review user stories, other requirements specifications, and technical design documents to understand product changes and provide feedback on testability 
    • Collaborate with product management and UX team members to measure usability and identify gaps 
    • Collaborate with software architects and IT to measure stability, performance, and security, and identify gaps 
    • Collaborate with software architects to design and document the overall approach to product quality 
    • Create detailed, comprehensive, and well-structured test plans and test cases 
    • Estimate, prioritize, plan, and coordinate testing activities 
    • Design, develop, and execute automation scripts 
    • Identify, record, document, and track software defects through resolution 

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIRED SKILLS

    • Education:
    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from a college/University in related field or relevant experience in the field.
    • Experience
    • Strong knowledge of QA methodologies, tools, and processes
    • 1 or 2 years’ experience in functional testing
    • Training or study of Lean, Six Sigma, TQM or other quality management systems
    • Previous experience as lead creator of clear, concise, comprehensive test plans and cases
    • Experience with both white and black box testing
    • Experience working in an agile development process 
    • Other relevant skills
    • Knowledge of SQL and Jira
    • Knowledge of performance testing
    • Knowledge of security testing
