OVERVIEW
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
Welocalize is seeking passionate and culturally fluent linguists with deep knowledge of marketing content and localization processes to join our German Localization team. You’ll help shape engaging and high-quality content and user experiences that resonate with German-speaking audiences in Germany across consumer-focused platforms.
You’ll translate, adapt, and copy-edit a variety of marketing-related content into native-level German, bringing an authentic tone and voice to our client's global retail initiatives. This is more than localization—it’s creative storytelling for a highly brand-conscious audience.
Project Details:
Language Pair: English (US) > German (DE)
Task Type: Translation, Copy Editing
Volume: 1,000–2,000 weighted words/week
Tools: WorldServer, Trados Studio
Workload: Weekly availability preferred
MAIN DUTIES
- Translate and adapt marketing-related content from English (US) to German (Germany) with a native-level understanding of both language and culture.
- Perform copy-editing tasks to ensure translations meet client expectations in tone, style, and terminology.
- Collaborate with the Lead Translator to maintain consistency and quality across all localized content.
- Work within the client’s CAT tools (e.g., WorldServer, Trados Studio) to deliver translations on schedule.
- Produce creative translations that feel natural and resonate with the target audience, especially for consumer-focused brands.
- Ensure alignment with the client’s brand voice and style guidelines across all projects.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Academic background in Translation, Linguistics, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in marketing, transcreation, or creative localization.
- Native-level fluency in German (Germany) and near-native fluency in English (US).
- Strong understanding of consumer-focused branding and marketing strategies.
- Proficiency with CAT tools, including Trados Studio, and familiarity with localization platforms like WorldServer.
- Excellent writing and storytelling skills to produce translations that feel authentic and engaging.
- Meticulous attention to detail, ensuring high-quality work that aligns with client expectations.
BONUS IF YOU HAVE
- Experience working with high-profile, globally recognized brands.
- Familiarity with the client’s products and services.
- Experience in managing or leading small teams of linguists.
- Knowledge of additional localization tools or technologies.
- A passion for creativity and storytelling, particularly in the marketing and retail space.
- A strong track record of handling transcreation projects or creative writing tasks.
$32 - $37 an hour
