Job Summary
The Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager is responsible for managing the Environmental, Health, Safety program, and is the coordinator for EHS Training program at Western Aircraft.  Analyzes safety information and requirements and develops & delivers safety and environment training to employees.   Develops & ensures the company is following an environmental management plan and ensures compliance with all environmental regulatory requirements.


Duties & Responsibilities

    • Develop and maintain a Continuous Improvement Culture regarding Environmental, Health, and Safety
    • Perform accident investigations, ensure root cause analysis is performed and implement corrective actions for the accident
    • Process all Safety and Environmental related invoices
    • Facilitate Western Aircraft’s Safety, Environmental Committee and provide periodic status reviews
    • Maintain and revise the WAI Safety Manual as required to meet all company and regulatory requirements
    • Conduct safety audits advising Managers on safety issues and collaborating with Managers to implement corrective actions
    • Manage the safety awards programs (goal setting and awards)
    • Conduct new hire Safety Orientation and training
    • Maintain relationships with OSHA consultation and take action to maintain the SHARP award
    • Accurately and timely completes OSHA 300 report for Western Aircraft
    • Oversees and manages the hazardous waste management program
    • Serves as site focal point for Environmental compliance with EPA and DEQ. Prevent pollution from all company sources in accordance with 40 CFR Protection of Environment Standards.
    • Ensure compliance with Idaho DEQ annual reporting requirements
    • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications & Job Requirements

    • Minimum seven (7) years’ experience in Safety role within a production environment preferred
    • Proficient with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and have the ability to learn other software as needed
    • Advanced understanding of Safety and Environmental regulation compliance requirements.
    • General understanding of Lean and 5S methodology
    • Education:
    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred 
    • OSHA Certifications preferred

Other Prerequisites

    • Pass pre-employment drug screen and background check
    • Ability to obtain Airport Issued security badge
    • Valid Driver’s License

Working Environment & Physical Requirements

    • Primarily indoors in a temperature-controlled environment
    • Work is performed in an office environment with moderate noise level; frequently subject to inside environmental conditions, which provide protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
    • Requires sitting 6-8 hours a day
    • Occasional lifting and carrying to 50 lbs.
    • Constantly requires clear vision to read printed materials and computer screen
    • Constantly requires repetitive movement of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers
    • Constantly requires sufficient personal mobility and physical reflexes which permits the employee to function in a general office environment to accomplish tasks
    • Constantly requires clarity of speech and hearing, which permits the employee to communicate effectively
