Role overview
This exciting role reports to the Senior Editor for Youth Fashion Content who is based in London. You will power our global youth fashion content in South Korea and be an ambassador for your content area, both internally and externally.
With a keen eye on Youth Culture, you will be able to understand and decipher macro and micro influences on youth fashion. With a passion and proven knowledge of underground subcultures, art, zines, music, games, and key opinion leaders, you will be able to spot, track and report upcoming fashion trends.
You will create content for youth fashion products across apparel, footwear, and accessories for young women and men. You will report on global street style, analyse catwalks, trade shows and retail environments, and social media platforms, including TikTok, which play a central role in shaping and accelerating youth trends. There may be occasional opportunities to attend music festivals and relevant events to capture street style and youth culture insights first-hand. To understand the consumer, you will be constantly tuned into digital behaviours, subcultures and style shifts that define Gen-Z and Gen Alpha. You’ll understand the psychology behind what is trending and why specific aesthetics and items are resonating with young consumers.
As a WGSN youth fashion expert, you should understand the full trend cycle - when a trend emerges, when it ends and when it will return globally across different regions.
An inquisitive and analytical mindset is essential to succeed in the role, as you will be required to write methodically about current and future youth trends.
An excellent written and verbal command of the English language is a must. You will also have an ‘aesthetic eye’ as imagery plays an essential part in all of our fashion reporting at WGSN.

You will join a truly diverse and global team that brings an individual perspective to each region in which it operates, from the UK to Brazil and Hong Kong.
We are passionate about collaboration and have an excellent data team to help you transform your research into great storytelling. Our subbing team will also provide in-house training on WGSN’s tone of voice.
Key accountabilities
- Conduct trend research across young women & young men, teen and gender-inclusive youth product categories. You will produce global content with some focus on APAC specific reports
- Deliver concise and compelling product-focused trend reports in written, visual, and video formats, showing a clear understanding of clients' needs and balancing commerciality with creativity and innovation
- Take full ownership of your reports, managing deadlines and prioritising workload efficiently
- Confidently analyse and interpret data and infographics from various sources to validate trends
- Actively collaborate with APAC-based editors to support the delivery of regionalised content and insights
- Stay ahead of emerging youth culture and social media trends on TikTok, etc, highlighting their influence on fashion trends
- Attend various events as required, including product trade shows, music and youth festivals, to take photographs/ shoot street style and report on industry events
- Work cross-functionally with other departments across the business, such as Insight, the video content team, and City by City
- Participate in client meetings when required

Skills, experience & qualifications required
- A solid understanding of the Youth market across design and/ or buying, with the ability to identify, validate and articulate global youth trends across apparel, footwear and accessories
- Cultural awareness of youth-driven movements in fashion, art and music, with an understanding of underground culture
- Awareness of emerging and established youth brands and influencers, both locally and globally
- Good knowledge of the global fashion retail landscape, including premium and mass-market sectors
- Ability to work independently in a remote setting
- Excellent organisation, communication and collaboration skills
- The ability to build strong working relationships and collaborate with internal teams to help facilitate sales and client engagement
- Confidently presenting feedback and youth-focused insights to senior leadership
- Other skills, such as video and podcast creation, as well as knowledge of design tools will be advantageous
- An excellent written and verbal command of the English language is required
