WisdomTree is seeking a Corporate Counsel to join our legal team in New York, NY. The person in this role will report to the Deputy General Counsel and will be responsible for assisting in WisdomTree’s corporate and commercial legal work. This is a corporate generalist position within the corporate legal team. The ideal candidate would have an ability to multi-task across various general corporate and commercial legal matters.  

Responsibilities

    • Provide legal advice and guidance to the company on a wide range of matters across multiple departments.
    • Draft, review and negotiate contracts, agreements and other legal documents. Commercial contract work includes negotiation of master services agreements, statements of work, professional services agreements, vendor agreements, marketing agreements, SaaS agreements, non-disclosure agreements, and data and other IP licensing agreements.  
    • Conduct legal research and analysis to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations, with an emphasis on data privacy regulations and use of data analytics and tracking technologies.  
    • Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including business units, management teams and other members of WisdomTree’s legal department, including investment management and digital assets counsel.
    • Support corporate governance and regulatory compliance efforts.
    • Handle other general corporate matters that may arise, including employment, intellectual property, commercial transactions and public company related matters.

Required Qualifications & Skills

    • J.D. from an accredited law school.
    • Admitted to practice law in New York and in good standing.
    • 3-5 years of corporate legal experience, preferably with at least two years at a law firm, focusing on contract negotiation and legal analysis, and a keen interest in learning other areas of law and having an opportunity to work on many different types of legal matters.
    • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and manage a wide range of legal matters.
    • Highly developed written and oral communication skills, with special emphasis on excellent contract drafting and negotiation skills.
    • Strong analytics and problem-solving abilities. 
    • Business-minded approach to issues, with an ability to summarize key legal and business issues and alternatives for business decisions in a fast-paced environment with deadlines.
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
    • Ability to manage negotiation and execution of various commercial agreements and appropriately prioritize responsibilities.
    • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

Additional Considerations

    • Familiarity with in-house legal operations a plus.
    • Comfortable interacting with business professionals and external advisors.
    • Eagerness to work as part of a collaborative team.
    • Desire to increase scope of work and responsibility as needs arise and experience allows, and openness to learn on the job.

    • Working knowledge with and interest in understanding evolving technologies, including artificial intelligence, and regulatory schemes governing data privacy and security.
$150,000 - $180,000 a year
The base salary range for this position is $150,000 to $180,000. In addition, employees are eligible for an annual discretionary bonus and competitive benefits package. Total compensation may vary based on factors such as location, role, company, department, experience and individual performance.
