We are looking for a Staff Equipment Maintenance Engineer to join our team. The Equipment Engineer at Wisk is working to ensure that production needs are being realized through the strategic deployment of equipment and automation. You will be part of the Production Equipment and Automation Team that is responsible for bringing Wisk into the future of high rate aerospace fabrication and assembly.

Why we need you:

    • With that vision in mind, we are looking for a Staff Equipment Engineer to join our Production Equipment and Automation Team. The goal of the Equipment Engineer at Wisk is to to build the first fully autonomous all-electric aircraft that performs and operates safely in an urban air-mobility environment. In support of this goal, you will be part of the Production Engineering team that is responsible for creating a world-class high volume aerospace manufacturing facility. 
    • The successful candidate has a background in designing customized equipment to fit unique solutions and is able to adapt to changes in a fast-paced environment. In this role, the candidate must be proactive, forward thinking, and self-motivated with the ability to effectively communicate information and ideas with a cross functional and diverse team.

What you will do:

    • Become familiar with the Wisk Generation 6 Design. Improve current processes for Quality and Takt time
    • Design equipment and tooling for motor and propeller part production and assembly 
    • Work with suppliers on ensuring Wisk standards are upheld for outsourced equipment and automation
    • Establish plans for testing and buyoff of test and/or production equipment 
    • Play a key role as a lead developer of new equipment and automation. Integrate  with the team at the beginning of concept through deployment
    • Work with Manufacturing Engineers and product groups on developing a roadmap for future production automation
    • Help define and develop process documentation for equipment. Aid Manufacturing with creating work instructions with your equipment

What you have done:

    • B.S. in a relevant engineering discipline with at least 8+ years of experience in Equipment, Mechanical, Mechatronics, Tooling, or Manufacturing Engineering
    • Demonstrated understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals: structures, mechanisms, materials and analysis.
    • Familiar with vendor management, including writing and executing statements of work, equipment specifications, and buy-off documents 
    • Design expertise, including precision alignment fixtures, drive systems, linear actuators, and lift systems 
    • Background in designing new equipment 
    • Mechanical design and/or manufacturing experience that includes the use of interpretation of engineering design drawings
    • Familiarity with engineering CAD tools (NX, Catia, Solidworks), PLM (Teamcenter), and model based product definition
    • Working knowledge of industry standards and federal regulations including ANSI, OSHA, and AWS standards applicable to mechanical and structural systems 
    • Strong understanding and implementation of Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (ASME Y14.5)
    • Experience with vendor management and delivering hardware.

Desired:

    • Familiarity with Siemens tools (NX, TeamCenter, EasyPlan, Opscenter, etc.)
    • Experience working on certified aircraft and in a regulated environment (e.g. AS9100, FAA Part 23/25)
    • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and/or Six-Sigma principles
    • Familiar with Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES)
    • Background in either automotive or aerospace manufacturing environments
    • Familiarity with automation in one of the following areas: Assembly Lines, Electric Motors, Composites, or Vehicle Integration 
    • Experience scaling products from prototype to production

$146,160 - $168,000 a year

Pay Range the Company expects to pay: $146,160 - $168,000 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
