The Energy Storage and Power System (ESPS) IPT (Integrated Product Team) Lead is a Director level position responsible for the design, integration, certification, and delivery of the Aircraft Battery Packs, Battery Management System, and Power Distribution throughout the aircraft.  You will work closely with all interfacing IPTs including Avionics, Propulsion, EWIS, and Passenger Systems. 
 
The Integrated Product Team (IPT) Lead provides project-specific cross-functional leadership with responsibility for planning, monitoring, controlling, and reporting on all the team’s activities. The IPT Lead is accountable for ensuring their team's objectives are achieved within the scope, schedule, and budget allocation, and consistent with quality and technical standards.
 
You will utilize your technical and business acumen to drive program & technical decisions and set objectives to meet the program schedule. You will be responsible for planning and coordinating the resources required to execute the program.

Successful candidates will utilize proven methods to monitor adherence to schedule and budget, manage risk, plan and verify product technical maturity, and ensure their team’s technical delivery across all their products is at the highest standards.

Responsibilities:

    • Lead their IPT’s technical development efforts related to architecture, design, development, integration, validation, performance, certification and production. 
    • Engage with other IPT Leads, Chief Engineers, Functional Managers, Program Office and Company Leadership to ensure successful program planning and execution 
    • Authority and accountability for their IPT’s technical scope in alignment with schedule and budget.
    • Support overall Program success by defining schedule inputs and changes into the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS), maintaining timely and effective change management of the schedule.
    • Monitor technical maturity and ensure that issues impacting progression are addressed immediately and corrective actions and recovery plans are implemented expeditiously
    • Plan and coordinate activities to support formal validation and verification, including any test activities 
    • Implement and follow Risk management activities to manage program technical, schedule, and cost risk. 
    • Coordinate the engineering review, approval, and release processes of all key deliverables
    • Support multidisciplinary program reviews and presentations throughout the different phases of development, certification, and production readiness with internal and external stakeholders

Requirements:

    • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or other relevant STEM field
    • 15+ years of experience in Aerospace engineering development and leadership with responsibility for scheduling and team/personnel management
    • 5+ years of experience in leading a multi-functional, technically-oriented, Integrated Product Team
    • Detailed knowledge of high and low voltage electrical power distribution topologies
    • 5+ years of experience working with Aerospace technologies, products and services.
    • Strong engineering analytical and technical skills with demonstrated experience delivering integrated technical solutions.
    • Strong communicator and excellent soft skills to work across the whole organization.
    • Experience performing cost and schedule management
    • Experience with risk, issues, and/or opportunity management
    • Strong decision-making abilities
    • Effective at managing wide range of tasks and rapidly changing priorities.
    • Knowledge of systems engineering and systems safety analyses and processes, including SAE ARP 4754A, Advisory Circular 23.1309-1E, SAE ARP 4761 as well as Part 25/29 certification requirements

Desired:

    • Graduate level degree in engineering or other relevant STEM field.
    • 2+ years of lithium ion cell characterization and testing experience
    • 5+ years of experience in high-integrity battery pack design, including specification of all cell characteristics
    • Demonstrated experience technical teams from the R&D stage to product delivery and in-service support, preferably with civil-certified aircraft.
    • Experience with performance and destructive testing of electric vehicle battery systems, preferably within aircraft. 
    • Experience with the design of battery management system state estimation and fault detection algorithms.
    • Experience with the design of safety-critical high and low voltage voltage power distribution topologies.
    • Developed complex systems using System Engineering processes including architecture development, systems integration, requirements development, validation, verification, process control etc. 
    • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE), including use case development, activity diagrams, logical architecture, etc.
    • Experience with Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS)
    • Knowledge of systems engineering and systems safety analyses and processes, including SAE ARP 4754A, Advisory Circular 23.1309-1E and SAE ARP 4761 
    • Familiar with CAD software preferably NX, but also, Solidworks, CATIA, etc.

Pay Range the Company expects to pay: $263,611 - $303,001 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
