What will you be doing at Woodard & Curran?
 
In this role, you will participate in the daily operations and maintenance of the Water Treatment Plant facility (wells, pump, motors, etc.).as directed by the Project Manager.  We are designed to treat 22 million gallons a day, however currently we are averaging about 10 million a day. Our influent source is ground water from an alluvial aquifer and nine alluvial wells that serve the water plant. Our treatment consists of lime softening, disinfecting with sodium hypochlorite and secondary disinfection with aqua ammonia and addition of fluoride for dental health. We have been 100% four log compliance for years providing high quality drinking water for our client and their customers. Each day does require the operator to monitor the daily process and make process changes when necessary.  If you are interested in protecting one of nature’s most valuable resources and working in a conservation area, then this is the place for you! The Defiance, Missouri water treatment plant staff is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the water treatment plant, the wells and the buildings and grounds.  This full-time position is responsible for the asset management and general maintenance of equipment at the water treatment plant and its related facilities.  The operators’ primary focus will be coordinating the preventative maintenance to be done by the Cartegraph work orders generated, performing any unpredicted maintenance that comes up, and making sure the general maintenance at the plant is being conducted according to our contract.  The secondary focus is to train all other staff on maintenance tasks and monitor that those tasks are being completed.
 
Schedule:
 
This position is for the hours from 7:00 am – 3:30 pm CST, Monday - Friday. You will be required to respond to emergencies or unpredictable situations. 

Essential Functions:

    • Manage minor and major repair and maintenance to plant and well field and all associated equipment.
    • Monitors plant operations to ensure adherence to all State and Federal regulations.
    • Collects and analyzes samples from water treatment and TSS samples.
    • Responds to emergency situations as required or in accordance with emergency operations plan.
    • Maintains and keeps current State operator’s license.
    • Maintains stock of materials/parts needed.
    • Performs all work in compliance with established safety standards.
    • Able to wear a respirator.

What will you need to succeed?

    • Missouri Water treatment plant operator’s license preferred.
    • A valid Missouri motor vehicle operator's license.
    • Working knowledge of the principles, procedures, methods, equipment, materials, and tools employed in the operation' and maintenance of Water Treatment Plant facility.
    • Thorough knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions involved in water treatment work.
    • Knowledge of computer applications.
    • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
    • Successful candidates will be required to complete a background check, pre-placement physical and drug screen before employment.
$31 - $35 an hour
Depending on qualifications and experience.
