WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We’re seeking a seasoned Senior Data Scientist who can tackle complex business challenges and transform them into innovative technical solutions. In this role, you’ll dive deep into statistical analysis, data mining, and cutting-edge LLM technologies to shape the future of AI-driven products.
You’ll engage hands-on with emerging technologies and push the boundaries of what’s possible in AI from early ideation and research through to final delivery. Join us to take the helm in developing data-driven product features, mentor up-and-coming talent, and help define the next frontier of AI-powered innovation! You'll report to the Head of Data Science & Advanced Research and come to the office up to 3 days/week as hybrid work to attend meetings with partners and the team.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Design and Develop AI/ML models: You will craft effective prompts to interact with AI models, optimizing output quality and relevance, fine-tuning, data feeding, validation and engineering continuous improvement
- Execution: You’ll bring cutting-edge innovations to life, including planning, research, execution, and delivery stages, and seize the opportunity to shape the future of data science with groundbreaking solutions that make a real impact. You will design and own data technical solutions, ensure cross-functional team alignment and collaboration, and ensure flawless implementation
- Human Centered Analysis: You’ll manipulate human behavior, sentiment and language data to uncover hidden patterns and support data-driven decision-making
- Model Lifecycle Assurance: Lead and oversee AI model development, from ideation, resource definition, to deployment and monitoring. Collaborate with engineers to implement models in existing systems
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- 8 years of relevant data science experience, with a strong emphasis on consumer-facing platforms, human-generated data, or equivalent data science domains
- 5+ years of experience applying advanced statistical methods and data mining techniques to identify new business opportunities and address existing challenges, including experience building data products from concept to production
- Experience with NLP, AI/ML (LLMs and trendy ML models), encompassing prompt engineering, fine-tuning, pipeline setup, validation, and QA for targeted applications
- Expertise in SQL, one or more programming languages (Python, R, C++, Java) and familiarity with data science libraries and toolkits; experience working with cloud services (preferably AWS)
- Experience translating complex technical concepts to non-technical partners (e.g. head of HR, head of L&D, and senior leaders in the engineering field)
NICE TO HAVES
- Advanced degree in Data Science, Statistics, BI, Quantitative Analytics, Econometrics, Biostatistics, Computer Science or a related field
- Experience in the Education Technology or HR technology industry
- Fluent in Japanese and English
- Knowledge of Data Engineering, DevOps practices for AI model deployment and MLOps principles
