TEAM
Team members of the Chief Architect Office are expected to exemplify what it means to be a highly-effective cross-functional individual contributor. They are expected to be the go-to people for their area of specialization by having built respect and trust within Woven. Team members' work is expected to have multiplicative effects on the work of other teams within Arene, while cutting across organizational boundaries and ensuring that Woven delivers the right thing, with high quality, on time, at the right cost. You will report to the Director of Chief Architect Office. This role is onsite.


WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a technical expert in responsible open source software corporate contributions, particularly in the systems software space. Woven Planet and Toyota Group use open source extensively and want to support relevant projects, continue open-sourcing its own projects, use open source software correctly, and contribute to open source.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Define a strategy around open source software contributions for the development platform, and the onboard vehicle components;
    • Determine when open sourcing internal codebases would be relevant;
    • Support the engineering team's open source contributions, particularly helping them be productive contributors;
    • Work with the architecture team to align open source software with the development platform, as well as the onboard vehicle components;
    • Frequently synchronize with suppliers and OEMs to ensure that open source software usage is aligned and meets their individual goals of safety, quality, time-to-market, and cost reduction;
    • Consult with internal service organization to help suppliers and OEMs adopt open source software, contribute to it, and update it frequently;
    • Participate in various open source communities and relevant standards bodies to advance company objectives, while respecting the needs of stakeholders in other communities;
    • Participate in hiring and up-skilling a team of technical experts;
    • Enable the creation of an emotionally-safe world class engineering culture.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Fluent in English;
    • Excellent customer and partners management skills;
    • Experience contributing to systems software open source projects;
    • A Leader who understands human beings, identify their strengths and their weaknesses while supporting their growth;
    • A leader who can enable a safety culture in which, no compromise can be made on safety and on security;
    • Experience working in multicultural teams and openness to various cultures;
    • Very good knowledge of modern software development practices;
    • Mindset for ownership, growth, and a bias for progress;

NICE TO HAVES:

    • Excellent knowledge of engineering best practices in a safety environment;
    • Extensive experience with modern software development, particularly for C and C++;
    • Experienced engineering practitioner in a commercial products context;
    • Having held leadership positions in open source projects;
    • Participating in standards bodies;
    • Proficiency in Japanese;
    • Knowledge of quality management systems;
    • Automotive Industry engineering;
    • Security-conscious software design and implementation;
    • Familiarity with the ISO 26262, SOTIF, or other standards for functional safety.
