TEAM
The AD/ADAS team focuses on developing a scalable, data-driven approach to autonomous and assisted driving software. To continuously improve and thoroughly test our driving systems, we build powerful developer workflows that leverage real-world data and in-house simulation technologies. We collaborate with partners across Toyota, offering numerous opportunities to integrate cutting-edge technology into consumer vehicles globally.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking an experienced Staff (Level 6) Frontend Engineer with a strong emphasis on React and modern web technologies. The ideal candidate will also have full-stack development experience and be knowledgeable about backend systems. They will be responsible for leading the design, development, and deployment of our web applications. By championing best practices, collaborating with cross-functional teams, and mentoring developers, you will play a key role in building our mission-critical AD/ADAS web tools.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • React Development:
    • Lead the design and implementation of scalable and performant React-based components and applications that power AD/ADAS development workflows.
    • Optimize components for maximum performance, especially for data-heavy products.
    • Engage in full stack development as you interface with existing backend systems and APIs.
    • Teamwork:
    • Collaborate closely with the Product team and internal customers to optimize workflows and user experience.
    • Work with backend engineers to design interfaces and land end-to-end value.
    • Mentorship & Leadership:
    • Technical lead of web application development
    • Offer guidance and mentorship to front-end developers in the team.
    • Promote best practices, conduct code reviews, and ensure consistency and quality across the codebase.
    • Technology & Innovation:
    • Stay updated on the latest developments in React and associated libraries.
    • Propose and advocate for modern technologies and methodologies that can drive innovation and performance.
    • Testing & Quality Assurance:
    • Implement robust testing using tools to ensure component and application reliability.

EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
    • 5+ years of professional front-end development experience, with at least 3 years focused on React.
    • 2+ years experience with full-stack development.

TECHNICAL EXPERTISE

    • Deep understanding of the React ecosystem and its core principles, including hooks, context, and the component lifecycle.
    • Proficiency in HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (ES6+).
    • Experience with popular React workflows (e.g., Redux, Recoil) and routing (e.g., React Router).
    • Familiarity with bundlers (e.g., Webpack)
    • Knowledge of performance optimization techniques in React applications.

SOFT SKILLS

    • Exceptional problem-solving and debugging capabilities.
    • Experience mentoring more junior engineers.
    • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
    • A team player seeking collaboration and continuous learning.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

    • Experience with server-side rendering frameworks for React (e.g., Next.js).
    • Familiarity with 3D rendering, WebGL, WebAssembly.
    • Familiarity with video streaming.
    • Familiarity with robotics data.
    • Familiarity with GraphQL and tools like Apollo Client.

$161,000- $264,000 a year
Your base salary is one part of your total compensation. At Woven by Toyota, we offer a base salary, a bonus, and a comprehensive benefits package. The California pay scale for this full time position is $161,000- $264,000. The total compensation offered to an employee will be dependent upon the individual's skills, experience, qualifications, location, and level.
