TEAM
Arene's mission is to simplify vehicle software development and increase developer agility by crafting tools and processes which enable novel uses of vehicles without compromising safety.

The Chief Engineer Office's mission is to lead global technical activities such as high level requirements, architecture and validation, through harmonized processes and tools. To deliver the vehicle platform with the desired Quality, Cost and Delivery (QCD) to Toyota, it is crucial to align our development plans, processes and products with Toyota's products life cycle. We do Systems Engineering, and transform needs into solutions.

You will report to the Functional Safety Engineering Manager, and this role's workplace type is hybrid - you will work in the office at least 3 days per week.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Support engineering teams in getting initial software safety requirements (through the safety DIA/RFQ) or approving an assumed TSC.
    • Support engineering teams in creating safety requirements.
    • Support engineering teams in performing safety analysis.
    • Assist architecture teams in defining safety mechanisms and improving the SW architecture for the products.
    • Support engineering teams in defining SW safety design and performing unit testing.
    • Support the safety V&V activities performed by the QA teams.
    • Support engineering teams in creating a safety manual / safety case.
    • Create internal safety guidelines and standards.
    • Create safety-related policies.
    • Performe internal safety training sessions with the teams.
    • Create and maintain templates and safety related documents.
    • Create tools and methods to support safety work.
    • Maintain global communications with other safety teams and experts in Toyota Motor Corp, Toyota Motor North America, ADAS Engineering teams.
    • Perform safety confirmation reviews over the work products generated by the teams.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • At least 3 years hands-on experience on ISO 26262 (at least 2 years in the role of automotive functional safety engineer for the software products development).
    • Strong experience developing SW products, preferably for the automotive domain (e.g. ECU firmware, operating systems, middleware).
    • Outstanding communication skills to perform training sessions, guide engineering teams and participate in safety discussions with stakeholders.
    • Experience creating structured safety arguments or performing confirmation reviews.
    • Experience working with RMS and TMS tools (JAMA and JIRA preferred).
    • Experience with Atlassian products.

NICE TO HAVES:

    • Experience with SW tools development and/or CI/CD roll-out.
    • Understanding approaches for the out-of-context SW development (e.g., SDK)
    • Knowledge of the SW verification methods and tools (e.g., static code analysers)
    • Knowledge of C/C++ syntax, ability to read the code.
    • Experience with CATIA Magic, Medini Analyze, JAMA, JIRA.
    • Functional safety or reliability certification with TUV, UL, ASQ or similar organization.
    • Japanese language proficiency
