MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
・Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD degree with an expected graduation till March 2026
* Must be in School until the end of internship program
・Must be available for a 3-month on-site internship in 2024
・Have no more than 24 months of professional full-time work experience in the technology field (excluding internships, research and/or teaching assistant roles, and military experience).
・International students who require visa support must meet one of the following requirements:
   ・The internship program is part of your education and essential for your graduation
   ・This internship allows you to receive some credit(s) for your education program
   ・Have Bachelor degree at the time of application

WORKING CONDITIONS
・Start Date: June 1, 2024, August 1, 2024
・Internship Duration: 3 months
・Expected work hours: 3-5 days on weekdays (24-40 hours/week)
・Salary: Hourly wage
・Work Location: Nihonbashi (Head office)
・Others:
   ・The program is expected to be onsite.
   ・International Students: Air tickets, visa support, and temporary housing will be provided.
   ・Japan-based Students (outside of Tokyo): Temporarily housing will be provided.

TEAM
Arene's mission is to empower Toyota and its partners to deliver next-generation vehicles with hardware-agnostic software that can be updated to support new features at any time.

Arene’s data platform provides a secure and scalable cloud location for the data generated by millions of vehicles, which in turn enables data-driven decisions, supports the Toyota Production System, drives customer value, generates revenue, and reduces product time-to-market.
Required Skills: Familiarity with Kotlin would be ideal.

You will report to the Team Lead of the designated team under Arene Data, and this role’s workplace type is onsite.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for software engineers who are willing to work with a team and passionate about building a data platform to support the mobility services of the future and enable data-driven decisions.

RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Collaborating with a team of experienced software developers to design and develop software solutions for automotive systems.
    • Participating in code reviews and contributing to the overall quality of the software development process.
    • Assisting with software testing and debugging to ensure high-quality, reliable software solutions.
    • Documenting software design, development, and testing activities.
    • Contributing to the continuous improvement of software development practices and processes.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

    • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
    • Experience with cloud-based (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure) microservice architecture, event-driven, distributed architectures
    • Experience with Kotlin, Java, or related programing languages
    • Experience with SQL and managing databases, including relational databases, NoSQL databases, etc.
    • Business-level proficiency in English

NICE TO HAVES

    • Experience with data streaming technologies (Kafka, AWS Kinesis, etc.) and stream processing technologies (Flink, Kafka Streams, Spark, etc.)
    • Experience with data lifecycle products (data catalogs, lineage, governance, etc.)
    • Experience with container technologies and Kubernetes in production
    • Experience in production system management, monitoring, and analysis
    • Proficiency in Japanese
