TEAM
The Engineering Platform Team's mission is to simplify software development and increase developer velocity by creating tools and processes which enable novel uses of vehicles without compromising safety.

The Arene Software Production Line (Arene SPL) Team is a sub-team of Engineering Platform, focusing on creating and automating code to car software pipelines to continuously build, test, and deliver software to the car. As a member of the Software Production Line team, you will create tools and processes to enable safe, secure and automated delivery of production software to vehicles.

With a focus on CI, CD and automation, you will work closely with other teams to integrate and deliver automotive software, at scale. You will be responsible for improving software quality and agility through automation which will be used to create the next generation of automotive software.

You will report to the Engineering Manager, and the role is hybrid - 3 days in office per week.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for engineers who are passionate about delivering clean and maintainable software which delight developers and enable the next generation of automotive software development. The right candidate will have solid coding skills, broad knowledge of software development, and excellent communication skills.

RESPONSIBILITIES
As part of the Arene SPL team your responsibilities will focus on developing and maintaining the pipelines that build, test and integrate software across multiple repositories before delivery to the vehicle.

The tools engineer role puts focus on the core components that interface CI/CD pipelines with backend services. Working with other engineers in the team to develop pipeline features and optimizations. The responsibility for the tools engineers extends from product vision, requirements gathering, implementation to supporting our customers as they use the tools you have developed.

Your core responsibilities will be:
・Development and maintenance of modern tools that build, test, and integrate software across multiple repositories before delivery to the vehicle
・Ensure developers can commit and deploy software with confidence, avoiding breaking changes and unforeseen regressions
・Work closely with our automotive and cloud software teams to optimize the development experience and software quality across a large, safety critical codebase by integrating CI/CD best practices

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    • 5+ years development experience in Python & Golang
    • Relevant professional experience in build tools and automation both in CI and local development environments
    • Knowledge of development best practices for large, distributed codebases (ex. system level testing, dependency management)

NICE TO HAVES:

    • At least 5 years of experience developing backend services and developer tooling
    • Experience working in a distributed remote team environment
    • Experience architecting, deploying, and operating solutions on AWS, GCP, or Azure
    • Professional experience working with and optimizing large scale builds (ex. merge queues, merge skew)
    • Familiarity with working in a security and safety focused environment and their related standards
