The Role

Reporting to the Assistant Controller, this individual will think outside the box and proactively problem solve, have hawk eyes for details, and be an effective communicator. The ideal Senior Accounting Manager will have experience with digital media and familiarization with revenue recognition, COGS, assets, and liabilities as they relate to an agency organization. The Senior Accounting Manager does not wait until the last minute to meet all deadlines as they are responsible for the day-to-day operations of the accounting department, including accounts receivable, accounts payable, and the month end close schedule and entries.

The anticipated annual salary for this role will range from $120,000 - $155,000, based on consideration of a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years and depth of experience, education and certifications, competitive benchmarks, scope of responsibility, market dynamics, geographic location, and respective state’s salary threshold for exempt employees. The total compensation package for this role will include benefits (listed above) and an annual performance bonus.

This role has an associated annual target bonus component which is paid out based on a number of factors which include Company performance, department performance, and individual performance. Bonuses are not guaranteed and you must be an active employee in good standing and not on a Performance Improvement Plan to be eligible for the annual bonus.

You Will Be

    • Managing the day-to-day accounting transactions and month-end close activities, including approval of invoices, credit memos, payment applications, journal entries, and balance sheet reconciliations
    • Responsible for all ASC 606 revenue recognition for a broad range of clients and engagements that can include retainers, project-based work, and percent of media spend fees
    • Handling all AR collection activities with a focus on fast cash collections and ASC 342 (CECL) credit loss management
    • Reviewing all passthrough spend of clients against prebills for different channels and approving relating vendor invoices to pay
    • Overseeing all expenses from reimbursable expense reports to depreciation and ASC 842 lease accounting
    • Confirming proper internal controls are established and followed to maintain the accuracy of financial reporting
    • Coordinating with external auditors and tax consultants in support of annual audit procedures
    • Operating as a trusted business partner and provide excellent levels of service across the organization
    • Proactively maintaining a thorough understanding of new and proposed accounting standards and their impact on the organizationLeading or participating in multiple ad hoc projects
    • Providing leadership and guidance, as a role model, for the accounting staff

You Must Have

    • Bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) with a focus in Accounting or Finance
    • At least ten (10) years of General Ledger accounting experience
    • At least five (5) years of managerial experienceWorking knowledge of NetSuite, or similar ERP, and strong Excel and Google Sheets skills
    • Proficient knowledge of GAAP and recent accounting trends
    • Excellent time management skills, ability to juggle multiple projects and large volumes of work
    • A positive, can-do attitude
    • Previous experience in an agency, digital media, and/or other high-growth environments
