The Community Ambassador role is designed to contribute to the process of building capacity within World Relief, the Afghan community, and general community, to promote the integration and empowerment of newcomers who have arrived as part of Operation Allies Welcome or since that time. This team member would be stationed in the office, working with teams to ensure newcomers have access to services provided through World Relief, especially Afghan women, and would be part of the ambassador’s teams efforts to support a warm welcome of newcomers and also actively gather feedback.   

Role & Responsibilities

    • Learn and be able to communicate about programming offered at World Relief and through community partners.   
    • Interpreting for newcomers participating in individual or group-based programs and services provided through World Relief.   
    • Regular outreach to community members, including follow-up on needs and referrals.   
    • Participation in planning and hosting welcoming events.   
    • Translate documents and help with recording of materials in Pashto   
    • Document and record plans, activities, outcomes and follow-up steps   
    • Complete any referral forms as requested, assisting clients with accessing resources and services   
    • Attend regular meetings and check-ins with the ambassador team and Integration and Wellness team to share information, provide feedback, and help with monitoring and tracking data through the CRM.   
    • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

    • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
    •  Strong attention to detail and willingness to ask questions   
    • Bilingual (English and Pashto)  
    • Valid driver’s license, and regular access to vehicle
$18 - $20 an hour

·         While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to have ordinary ambulatory skills sufficient to visit other locations
·         The ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and manipulate (lift, carry, move) light to medium weights of 10-15 pounds.
·         Requires good hand-eye coordination, arm, hand and finger dexterity, including ability to grasp, and visual acuity to use a keyboard, operate equipment and read application information.
·         The employee frequently is required to sit, reach with hands and arms, talk and hear.
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT: 
 
·         General office setting. World Relief also offers hybrid and remote schedules for limited positions.
·         Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in virtual meetings may be required.
·         Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending.
