ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.

POSITION SUMMARY:
World Relief works alongside local churches and volunteers to serve immigrants and refugees across Chicagoland. As a member of our Volunteer Mobilization Team, you will partner with our Immigrant Family Services department to foster mutually transformative relationships between volunteers and clients. This role focuses on connecting volunteers with meaningful service opportunities, offering both relational support and meeting the basic needs of refugee and immigrant families in Aurora.

This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until June 30, 2026 and contingent upon funding extension.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Coordinate volunteer opportunities for friendship partners, health advocates, youth tutors, and Good Neighbor teams in our Aurora office.
    • Conduct volunteer interviews, provide training, and offer ongoing support and recognition.
    • Ensure proper volunteer onboarding and client matching.
    • Maintain volunteer records and track hours and activities using Excel and Dynamics.
    • Implement volunteer appreciation strategies and organize recognition events.
    • Participate in internal meetings to provide updates and feedback on volunteer progress.
    • Collaborate with other volunteer coordinators, internal teams, and church mobilizers to develop, refine, and improve volunteer programs, ensuring they meet both client and volunteer needs.
    • Represent World Relief at external events, including community meetings and church mobilization activities, to recruit volunteers and promote World Relief’s programs.
    • Assist with special projects, events, and tasks as assigned by the Volunteer Engagement Manager.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Mature and personal Christian faith
    • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
    • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
    • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
    • Passion for engaging volunteers in service opportunities 
    • Demonstrated ability to mobilize, convene, motivate, coach, and facilitate individuals and teams toward a common purpose 
    • Relational intelligence, excellent interpersonal and written/spoken communication skills 
    • Driver’s license and access to a vehicle required 
    • Periodic evening and weekend availability required    

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Bachelor’s degree preferred 
    • Basic computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); other design skills a plus 
    • Flexibility and the ability to learn quickly in a fast-paced work environment 
    • Self-starter with strong initiative and follow-through
    • Demonstrated ability to work sensitively and effectively in cross-cultural settings 
    • Strong time management and multi-tasking skills 
    • Detail-oriented and able to prioritize day to day and week to week
    • Cross-cultural experience and an ability to train and educate adult learners about cross-cultural relationships and dynamics 
    • Excellent problem solving and planning skills, and a willingness to analyze and adapt processes to better achieve goals    
$23 - $24 an hour
