World Relief is seeking a Refugee Benefits Navigator to assist newly arrived refugees in understanding and accessing public benefits for which they may be eligible. This role also includes providing case management for a specific caseload of families qualifying for the Wilson Fish TANF Coordination Program.
Role & Responsibilities
- Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
- Conduct eligibility determination and enrollment services to newly arrived refugee families for health insurance, Refugee Cash Assistance, and Public Benefit programs.
- Provide client-centered, solution driven case management services for clients enrolled in public benefit programs, including TANF Coordination Health Promotion and Elders ensuring Elders ensuring system navigation support, effective goal planning and measurable progress towards self towards self-sufficiency during their enrollment period.
- Coordinate with Tennessee Department of Human Services’ specialized refugee unit to ensure client access and full participation to DHS services and resolve obstacles as needed Facilitate outreach and education to increase TANF program and medical insurance awareness and understanding among eligible clients.
- Assist program participants in health insurance and short-term medical system navigation goals such as connection to primary care services, medical bill assistance and referrals to other services or intensive case management as needed.
- Assist refugee adults 65 years and older in the application for Social Security Income along with health insurance and other public benefits.
- Maintain and support the creation of relevant partnerships with non-profits and community groups to ensure access to benefits, resources and information for refugee and immigrant communities.
- Collaborate with Economic Empowerment and Initial Welcoming Services in providing holistic and coordinates services to newly arrived refugee clients navigating challenges and barriers impacting clients’ resettlement, stability and self-sufficiency.
- Support regular reporting, including biannual, quarterly and monthly reports for all relevant programs through timely and accurate data submission, case notes, documentation, etc.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to program operations.
- Actively participate in and support staff and team meetings, staff development, program training, community activities, and organizational events.
- Maintain an internal library of community organizations and relevant resources for timely client referrals.

- Strong understanding of case management practices and strategies, with excellent attention to detail and time management.
- Excellent problem solving and planning abilities, and a willingness to analyze and adapt processes to better achieve goals
- Highly organized with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Cross-cultural fluency and experience working with newcomers from diverse backgrounds and beliefs
- Ability to work independently and solve problems effectively
- Must have the ability to work under pressure with flexibility within a team-oriented, and highly collaborative environment.
- Skilled at prioritizing with an ability to multi-task and manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced setting
- Excellent interpersonal, collaborative and communication skills; demonstrated ability to establish positive working relationships at all levels of the organization
- A self-starter with strong initiative, follow-through, and organizational skills; must be able to prioritize, multi-task, and be attentive to details
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook
- Multilingual abilities (e.g., Dari, Arabic, Kirundi, Swahili, Spanish) are strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with public benefits and systems including TANF, SNAP, Medicaid, and workforce development is preferred but not required.

$19.25 - $21 an hour

· Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in virtual meetings may be required.
