ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.
This position is reliant upon funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on resource availability.
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position, under the supervision of the Programs Director, is primarily responsible for supporting newly arriving immigrants and refugees in accessing essential public benefits and services. This position plays a key role in a walk-in, trauma-informed model of care, ensuring timely documentation, service coordination, and community referrals. The coordinator facilitates integrated service delivery that promotes client access, stability, and long-term self-sufficiency.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute to a low-barrier, trauma-informed walk-in service model by providing respectful, client-centered support and flexible service coordination.
- Meeting with clients to conduct Safety & Needs Screening and provide direct client support to eligible immigrants and refugees
- Assist clients in completing and submitting accurate and timely applications for South Carolina state benefits (e.g., SNAP, TANF, Medicaid).
- Monitor application status, track approvals and delays, and support clients in navigating benefit renewals or resolving barriers to access.
- Communicate with the State Refugee Coordinator and relevant agencies to advocate for timely processing and address systemic delays or discrepancies.
- Upload and maintain accurate client records, including application documents and status updates, in the Dynamics database
- Collaborate with caseworkers, program staff and volunteers to ensure coordinated care across benefits, housing, ILS, and travel loan services.
- Support and manage assigned volunteers supporting walk-in service model of care in the Greenville and Spartanburg offices.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Mature and personal Christian faith
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
- Maintain accurate records of client files and case notes.
- Participate in Home Office meetings (when applicable) and trainings
- Actively participate in office meetings, staff development opportunities, program trainings, community activities, and organizational events
- Provide occasional support to other team members or volunteers, as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor to support holistic client services.
- Valid driver’s license, regular access to vehicle, and ability/willingness to drive 15-passenger van required
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Personal Christian faith and a heart for service to vulnerable people
- Cross-cultural experience desired College degree and background in social services or case management preferred
- MS Office skills preferred
- Highly self-motivated with strong follow-through and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work remotely with internet access required Occasional evenings or weekends required
