ORGANIZATION SUMMARY
World Relief is a global Christian humanitarian organization whose mission is to boldly engage the world’s greatest crises in partnership with the church. The organization was founded in the aftermath of World War II to respond to the urgent humanitarian needs of war-torn Europe. Since then, for 80 years, across 100 countries, World Relief has partnered with local churches and communities to build a world where families thrive and communities flourish.

Today, organizational programming focuses on humanitarian and disaster response, community strengthening and resilience, and refugee & immigrant services and advocacy.


This position is reliant upon funding and may be subject to modification or termination based on resource availability.


POSITION SUMMARY:
This is primarily an externally facing position designed to recruit, support, and scale WRC’s partnerships with local churches through consultation, communication, and connection.

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Develop strong relationships with churches to create ways for churches to partner that benefit the clients we serve, the church’s own ministries, the community, and World Relief Chicagoland.
    • Reach goals set by the Church Engagement Team through jointly developing and implementing plans for engaging churches in partnership with World Relief.
    • Steward a portfolio of churches that produce deeper engagement with World Relief.
    • Regularly present about work of World Relief at church events that mobilize churches to engage.
    • Closely track the church’s information in office-based tracking systems including key contact information for pastoral leadership and church champion(s).
    • Explore ways for churches to partner together in underrepresented communities to expand and grow both ministries.
    • Regularly attend church network events to connect/grow relationships with churches and World Relief.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

    • Mature and personal Christian faith
    • Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
    • Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
    • Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
    • Cross-cultural experience required
    • Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
    • Biblical knowledge and understanding of scriptural basis for work among immigrants
    • Sensitivity to strengths and needs specific to churches in underrepresented communities, and the ability to network within the community.
    • Ability to manage multiple demands and deadlines with flexibility 
    • Basic computer skills required (Word, Excel, Publisher, Power Point) and working with database systems
    • Ability to develop strong relationships with churches to create ways for churches to partner that benefit the clients we serve, the church’s own ministries, the community, and World Relief Chicagoland.
    • Ability to reach goals set by the Church Engagement Team through jointly developing and implementing plans for engaging churches in partnership with World Relief.
    • Able to steward a portfolio of churches that produce deeper engagement with World Relief.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Five years of experience or more working with churches
    • Bachelor’s degree
$58,000 - $66,000 a year
