ORGANIZATION SUMMARY

POSITION SUMMARY:
World Relief Chicagoland seeks an experienced, people-oriented Volunteer Mobilization Coordinator to join the Volunteer Engagement team, empowering volunteers to come alongside refugees and immigrants across Chicagoland. In working closely with volunteer coordinators, the goal of this position is to process, screen, and connect volunteers with service opportunities within WR’s ministry, including Immigration Legal Services, Immigrant Family Services, Education (ELL) services, and general office needs. The position is responsible for assisting volunteers through the application process, training, and referring volunteers to the appropriate department, as well as taking a lead role in recruitment, data accuracy, and metrics tracking in collaboration with the national Community Engagement team of World Relief. This role also works closely with the Chicagoland Church Mobilization team in communicating volunteer needs to church partners and updating church partners about their members’ participation in service.
This is a limited-term position funded through a grant agreement until 3/30/25 and contingent upon funding extension.
ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee and manage the components of the onboarding process for Chicagoland volunteers, including application review and screening, orientation facilitation, processing background checks and reference checks, and tracking completion of orientation courses on World Relief’s e-learning platform, assisting volunteers with any issues as they complete these steps.
- Maintain accurate records of volunteer data and status (including onboarding step completion) in World Relief’s Dynamics CRM system, and provide ongoing feedback to World Relief’s headquarters team about system errors or improvements needed.
- Oversee volunteers as a volunteer coordinator for some volunteer roles alongside the rest of the volunteer mobilization team, such as office assistant volunteers.
- As part of the church and volunteer engagement team, be prepared to share the mission of WR and connect church partners and volunteers to service opportunities as a way of joining in this mission through attending daytime, evening, and weekend events to represent WR and invite others into partnership. Average is 1-2 events per month.
- Share with the rest of the team in helping coordinate one-time service opportunities and donation drives, as needed
- Oversee the tracking of intern service hours for Chicagoland interns
- Coordinate reporting volunteer and intern metrics to headquarters and local office on a monthly basis, in conjunction with other team members

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- Mature and personal Christian faith
- Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
- Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
- Able to affirm and/or acknowledge World Reliefs Core Beliefs, Statement of Faith, Christian Identity and National Evangelicals For the Health of The Nation document
- Driver’s license and access to a vehicle
- Periodic event and weekend availability required
- Strong communication skills, passion for helping people connect in ministry through service, proven ability to coordinate logistics for multiple people and projects within scope of role
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills (email, text, phone, Zoom, in person)
- People-oriented and comfortable speaking to strangers in one-on-one and group contexts, such as leading orientation sessions and holding phone calls with new volunteers
- Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
- Passion for helping people connect in ministry with their community, and strong commitment to local church engagement
- Organization and detail-oriented skills
- Time management skills
- Proven ability to coordinate logistics for multiple people and projects within scope of role; connector skills and passion

$23 - $24 an hour
Compensation is commensurate with experience.
